JOB DESCRIPTION:
Privacy international Engagement Senior Specialist is urgently required for a leading IT Vendor based in Doha, Qatar, for a long-term assignment up to 3 years with a government entity. The competent department of Personal Data Privacy Protection Law (PDDPL) was set up in 2018, with the mandate to supervise, regulate and develop the sector of Information and Communications Technology in the State of Qatar. A key function of the competent department is its regulation over the processing of personal data under the Qatari Personal. Data Privacy Protection Law (PDPPL), which requires organizations in Qatar to ensure the protection of personal data and privacy of individuals. The competent department is the regulator empowered to enforce and supervise implementation of the PDPPL across Qatar. This role is a key component of the competent department workforce as it is implemented and starts executing its responsibilities as a regulator, while also taking a consultative approach towards organizations who seek more guidance inPDPPL implementation. As International Engagement senior specialist, you will help to represent the competent department at international privacy bodies and communities such as the Global Privacy Enforcement Network (GPEN) and Global Privacy Assembly (GPA), and help to attend key international privacy conferences along with the team. You will also represent the competent department to other national and international privacy regulators and maintain relationships to support competent department involvement in bi-lateral and international cooperation initiatives. You will ensure that best practice and experience of such bodies is communicated to competent department teams to enable the competent department to leverage global experience and encourage leading data protection practices to be developed and implemented. QUALIFICATION:
  • University degree or higher education certificate in information technology, technology law, risk and compliance or other related degrees or other equivalent experience.
  • Up to date and thorough knowledge of international data privacy legislations, policies and best practices.
  • Up to date knowledge of current trends and practices relating to the use of information, communications and information security technologies.
  • Strong understanding of the PDPPL and its impact on regulated entities and individuals in Qatar and related impacts on developments in the field of technology and vice versa.
  • Good . intellectual and analytical ability order to develop the ability to apply complex legislation to a variety of circumstances.
  • Knowledge of standard and leading privacy practices, in line with the PDPPL as well as leading privacy regulations such as the EU GDPR.
  • Ability to deliver technical training and awareness to a group of individuals.
  • Data Protection certifications preferred, such as Certified Information Privacy Technologist {CIPT) and/or Certified Information Privacy Professional {CIPP).
  • 8 - 10 years in a communication related role in government or at an international organisation with experience in developing and delivering training and awareness content.
