Wood currently has a requirement for a Principal Fire Systems Engineer to work in our Abu Dhabi office to support UK based projects. The successful candidate will take responsibility for Fire Engineering issues and deliverables on Wood\xe2\x80\x99s projects at all stages of the design process.
We are currently looking for people with the drive and commitment to make a genuine difference to our performance on projects across the full life cycle, from studies and FEED to EPC and PMC, to ensure that Wood continues to differentiate itself from its competitors by delivering quality projects to meet our client\xe2\x80\x99s requirements. Candidates should have FEED experience across a range of the following areas: onshore oil / gas processing, refining, petrochemical plants, LNG, chemical plants, offsites and utilities, power generation.
Responsibilities
Taking ownership of fire systems activities and deliverables, including active and passive fire protection systems and fire and gas detection systems
Managing the Fire Systems team on a project, ensuring that work is planned and controlled effectively, to meet project deadlines and milestones within budget
Preparation of Fire Detection and Protection Specification and Philosophies
Preparation of Fire Risk Assessments
Determination of fire water demand, use of specialist software to undertake hydraulic calculations
Design of water deluge systems and foam systems
Preparation of Equipment Specifications
Determination of fire and gas detection requirements and high - level design of such systems.
Technical input to Fire systems Equipment layouts and P&IDs
Providing specialist Fire system input to the Wood and Client engineering disciplines e.g. C and I, Civils, Process and Architecture
Review of requisitions for equipment and sub - contracts
Keeping up to date with International Fire Codes and developments in the field
Skills / Qualifications
Broad experience of a range of fire engineering applications and be able to demonstrate understanding across these areas. Areas of expertise to include hydrocarbon processing plants and storage facilities, plant support buildings and combustible product storage buildings
Ability to interpret fire engineering related legislation and standards, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
A Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Fire, Chemical or Process Engineering
Minimum 15 years of experience in oil and gas industry
Must held similar role for at least 3 \xe2\x80\x93 5 years
Experience in energy, oil and gas, refining and petrochemical sectors
Ability and willingness to undertake new challenges
Experience of computer simulation packages for hydraulics (Pipe net, Fathom etc.) and Consequence Modelling (Phast or other)
Good Microsoft Office skills and general computing skill
