The Principal Attorney will support the CB&I across Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia, and Australia (\xe2\x80\x9cInternational Group\xe2\x80\x9d) as part of Legal Operations function within the McDermott Sustainability & Governance department. The successful applicant will also work independently, communicate clearly at all levels of the organization, and provide prompt, commercially driven legal advice to the business, requiring advanced knowledge of EPC contracting.

Remits and Responsibilities

• Working closely with colleagues in Sales, Estimating, and Operations to review Tenders / ITB\xe2\x80\x99s, preparing contract deviations and managing negotiations for new opportunities (which includes reviewing Engineering, Study and EPC Agreement terms and conditions, pricing/payment schedules, scope of work, project procedures and execution schedules on lump sum contract model) for multi-million-dollar projects.
• Advising, reviewing, and negotiating related MOU, Pre-bid Agreements, Consortium, Joint Venture, Partnership.
• Ensuring project contracts are consistent with CB&I\xe2\x80\x99s strategy, contracting standards and other CB&I\xe2\x80\x99s policies while avoiding onerous liabilities.
• Working with and understanding governing laws, including facilitating, understanding, and applying specialized legal advice from such jurisdictions.
• Advising on and review of Bank Guarantees and Parent Company Guarantees.
• Working closely with the Contracts team on post contract award issues, such as claims, change orders and so on.
• Providing legal support to the SCM team on supply/services contracts.
• Assisting with corporate house-keeping matters like setting up, management or close out of offices/entities.
• Providing legal support to CB&I\xe2\x80\x99s operations and offices across the International Group, including real estate agreements, HR matters and non-project procurement.
• Participating in management review meetings and departmental meetings and initiatives.
• Participating in non-legal initiatives in areas such as safety, well-being, D&I, and sustainability.

Experience and Qualifications

• LLB or equivalent
• Called to the bar / qualified lawyer in a relevant jurisdiction (Middle East, other civil or common-law jurisdiction)
• 8-10 years legal experience with at 4-6 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the Oil & Gas and/or EPC industry.
