The Preservation Coordinator supports the execution and monitoring of all preservation activities for equipment, bulk materials, and critical assets during storage, construction, installation, and pre?commissioning phases. The role ensures that all preservation requirements are implemented according to project specifications, vendor recommendations, and international standards, helping maintain asset integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preservation Execution & Monitoring
Assist in executing the project's Preservation Plan, procedures, and checklists.
Carry out scheduled preservation tasks on mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, static, and rotating equipment.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and environmental control of materials as per OEM and project requirements.
Monitor preservation intervals and update status in preservation tracking systems.
2. Inspection & Compliance
Conduct routine inspections of equipment in storage yards, warehouses, and at the construction site.
Identify preservation gaps, deterioration risks, and non?conformities and report them to the Preservation Manager.
Ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements, project specifications, and international standards (API, ISO, ASME, IEC).
Verify completion of preservation activities before equipment handover to commissioning.
3. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate preservation logs, checklists, inspection reports, and photo documentation.
Update preservation software or digital tools with activity status and intervals.
Support preparation of preservation records for handover packs (MDR, system completion dossiers).
Report daily progress and highlight any issues requiring escalation.
4. Coordination & Support
Coordinate with warehouse teams, construction supervisors, and commissioning personnel to ensure equipment is preserved at each stage.
Liaise with vendors/OEM representatives during inspections or when clarification on preservation requirements is needed.
Support subcontractor teams involved in preservation activities and verify the quality of their work.
Ensure smooth communication between operations, logistics, and QA/QC departments.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering (or related discipline).
3-7 years
of experience in Oil & Gas projects, with direct involvement in equipment preservation.
Good understanding of rotating, static, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.
Familiarity with preservation software or digital maintenance tools is an advantage.
Experience working in GCC or large EPC project environments preferred.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of international standards related to preservation (API, ISO, ASME, IEC).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to asset integrity.
Ability to interpret vendor manuals, technical drawings, and preservation procedures.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work in outdoor, construction?site environments.
Proficient in MS Office and digital documentation tools.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to work in construction sites and high?temperature environments.
Ability to work with multicultural teams and subcontractors.
Strong safety awareness and adherence to HSE requirements
