Job Title:

Pre-Sales / Estimation Engineer

Reporting To:

Account Manager or Chairman / General Manager

Job Purpose:

To prepare accurate technical and cost estimations based on customer RFQs, BOMs, and technical documentation, supporting the sales team in submitting competitive and complete proposals for electronic manufacturing services.

Key Responsibilities:

- Analyze RFQs, BOMs, drawings, and specifications received from clients.

- Coordinate with Procurement and SCM for material pricing and lead times.

- Work with Engineering, QA, and Production to estimate labor, testing, tooling, and NRE costs.

- Build and maintain standardized cost models and pricing templates for consistent quoting.

- Prepare comprehensive commercial and technical quotations and participate in internal review.

- Support the Account Manager during technical clarifications and cost justifications.

- Track historical quotes, maintain an estimation database, and improve accuracy over time.

- Ensure proposals meet client specifications and internal margin requirements.

- Support bid documentation including compliance forms, pricing breakdowns, and capability statements.

- Continuously optimize the quotation cycle time and reduce errors in cost assumptions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

- Accuracy of estimations vs. actual cost.

- Quotation cycle time (RFQ to quote submission).

- Internal approval lead time for quotations.

- Win/loss ratio of submitted proposals.

- Client satisfaction with technical responses and pricing transparency.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.

- 2-4 years of experience in EMS costing, estimation, or pre-sales engineering.

- Familiarity with component pricing, PCB assembly processes, and ERP systems.

Skills & Competencies:

- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.

- Understanding of BOM analysis, test planning, and manufacturing cost drivers.

- Proficiency in Excel and ERP/MRP quotation tools.

- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional departments under deadline pressure.

- Clear technical communication and document formatting capabilities.
