(PPM) on all types of bakery and commercial kitchen equipment. Their main goal is to ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely, preventing unexpected breakdowns and maximizing its lifespan. Key Responsibilities PPM bakery technician's tasks generally include:
Inspecting and Servicing Equipment
: Regularly inspecting, testing, and servicing a wide range of bakery equipment such as ovens, dough sheeters, mixers, fryers, and refrigeration units.
Troubleshooting and Repair
: Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults in equipment when breakdowns do occur.
Documentation
: Maintaining comprehensive records of all maintenance work performed and creating reports.
Ensuring Compliance
: Ensuring all equipment remains compliant with relevant safety regulations and standards, such as Gas Safe or FGAS.
Managing Service Calls
: Scheduling client appointments for both preventative maintenance and breakdown calls.
Required Skills and ExperienceTypical requirements for this role include:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the maintenance of commercial kitchen or industrial food processing equipment.
Strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and sometimes refrigeration systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
A valid driving license may be required for field service roles.
