Job Description

JOB PURPOSE Custodian of mobile power equipment (ITVs, TTs, RS, EH, FL, Forklifts) and Civil Infrastructures (Yard, Wharf, Maintenance buildings
  • Ensure assets registered in GEAR
  • Act as systems champions for Engines & Hydraulic
  • Ensuring components standardization
  • Documentation & Control - drawings/ contract agreement/equipment specifications
Monitoring the KPIs performance
  • Help accomplish objectives by bringing a systematic approach to analyze and improve the effectiveness of the engineering.
  • Provide an objective quality assurance to bring added value and provide for continuous improvement of DP World’s Business Units.
  • Review MEA BUs annual maintenance plan for each equipment (PMSC)
  • Prepare periodical reporting for equipment utilization, availability, reliability, MTBF, MTTR etc.
  • Review internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Automation implementation for CMMS and IOT
Tracking annual budget plan for effective maintenance and upgrading works for MEA's assets.
  • Support the regional BUs on preparation of the annual power equipment budget as per the planned and targeted objectives.
  • Support in defining the need for equipment replacement and in preparation of equipment specifications up on purchasing of any new power equipment in the region as based on the recognized standards and the specific local requirements.
  • Promote and drive equipment automation and processes integration with TOS and other systems across all departments.
  • Tracking of power equipment retrofitting projects (CAPEX/OPEX) and ensure handed over to operation timely.
  • Undertake defined regional development and upgrading projects and ensure projects are completed on time & within the allocated budget.
Tracking RCA for major breakdowns
  • Enhance the BUs result’s quality and reliability by benchmarking with global best practices and technology with case for action.
  • Support proposing training needs for the regional power shop staff and coordinate concerned parties to facilitate the training and knowledge sharing.
Engineering Risk Register
  • Ensure safety procedures are implemented throughout the regional BUs by extend knowledge sharing and providing safety training to the personnel thus creating a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Decarbonisation policy compliance
PEX Champion
  • Review and update SOPs document
  • Ensure standardization of processes and develop engineering planning skills in all BUs to improve efficiency.
  • Review and highlight the gaps in BU current work procedures for process improvement and documentation.
Centralizing Spareparts Coordinating with the BUs on the power equipment spare parts flow and smartly manage the storage levels in a way to secure the equipment reliable operations and avoid idling stocks .
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
  • Implement and support the Reliability Framework for core terminal equipment in the BUs to achieve a state-of-the-art fleet of equipment that supports reliable and safe operations.
  • Develop innovation culture driven by example.
  • Foster a regional culture of reducing waste without destroying value and be a key player in implementing Lean thinking and acting.
  • Drive fit-for-purpose Engineering information, based on both lagging and leading KPI’s. Drive the installation, roll-out and process standardization through Maximo.
  • Support the long term planning of the business units.
  • Support and develop Engineering Risk Registers in all business Units, following Global Standard.
  • Own Engineering Safety.
  • Create, generate, plan, review update, organise and manage the internal assessment plans which fulfil the responsibility of the terminals, scheduling and assigning work and estimating resource needs.
  • Involvement in the establishing of processes that represent the most effective way of achieving DP World’s engineering objectives.
  • Generate assessment reporting for the region and business unit. Meet regularly with DP World Senior management to ensure strategy and vision is assured and aligned with best business practise.
Share best practice:
  • Share company’s policies, standards and best practices and system solutions via InnoGate, weekly call, direct communication with BUs and during annual regional meeting.
  • Ensure implementation of processes and procedures that are cost efficient and with due regard for safety, quality and productivity.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Experience in engineering and process improvement
  • Graduate in mechanical/mechatronic engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in the operation & maintenance of heavy vehicles, civil infrastructures works, workshop operations and with a keen interest in best business practices and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of equipment automation.
  • In depth knowledge of mobile equipments mechanical & electrical system functionality, engineering, resource planning, procedures, business processes, budgeting and related financial controls.
  • Knowledge of Safety, Environmental and Security and how they relate to terminal.
  • Analytical thinking towards successful process continuous improvement and procedures.
  • LEAN six sigma knowledge.
  • Project Management skills.
Presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills, can persuade people and explain complex matters with ease.
  • Ability to communicate in multicultural environment from blue collars to executive management.
  • Strong relationship management skills, ability to convince people.
  • Ability to deliver staff training when required.
  • Capable and hands on to swiftly build or analyse large Excel files and financial models.
  • Capable of writing well-structured reports and business models.
