The Department of Electrical Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to work on advanced research in smart energy systems and electric vehicle charging technologies. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of solar photovoltaic based systems integrated with wireless charging for electric vehicles, focusing on advanced control techniques and smart energy management. The work will involve energy management of microgrids and smart grids, with a strong emphasis on AI-based control approaches, particularly deep reinforcement learning for optimal operation and decision making. The candidate is expected to have solid experience in renewable energy integration, optimization under uncertainty, as well as hands-on skills in modeling, simulation, and algorithm development using Python and/or MATLAB. Experience in wireless power transfer systems for electric vehicle charging is highly desirable. A strong background in uncertainty modeling, energy management systems, and deep reinforcement learning applications in smart grids is essential, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
