Job Description
The Opportunity
The postdoctoral associate will support designing an Abu Dhabi specific parenting program and implementing a pilot study of the program in Abu Dhabi in a multi-institutional project involving New York University Abu Dhabi, Zayed University Abu Dhabi, the Emirates College for Advanced Education, and the Early Childhood Authority of Abu Dhabi.
The Responsibilities
- Design, construct, deploy, and analyze parenting program measures for program evaluation.
- Conduct data analyses (pre/post program changes; group differences; etc.)
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific, peer-reviewed journals and talks for presentation at professional conferences (in English).
- Attend project meetings and coordinate parenting program evaluation with other team members.
- Perform administrative tasks related to the parenting program evaluation (data management and storage, etc.)
The Requirements
1. PhD in Psychology, Education, Human Development or related field;
2. with a specialization in early childhood development and parenting.
Candidates from other fields will be considered if required skills are demonstrated.
Required Competencies:
1.Understanding of data confidentiality principles and having impeccable research ethics are required
2.Extraordinary logic, quantitative and analytical skills; deductive reasoning and problem solving skills.
3.Proficiency in statistical software
4.Excellent organization skills
5.Being detail-oriented is extremely important
6.Has a good balance between the ability to follow specific instructions and the use of critical thinking to propose new solutions
7.Strong oral and written communication skills
8.Strong skills in writing scientific articles
9.Can work well independently and in a multidisciplinary team with researchers from different institutions
Other essential requirements:
1.Experience with development of intervention studies and data management.
2.Experience with data collection and participants of intercultural background.
3.Fluency in English language.
4.Proof of successful scientific writing (in particular, first-author manuscripts reporting empirical findings)
5.Experience with scientific statistic programs (such as SPSS, R, \xe2\x80\xa6 )
