Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and responsible individual to join our warehouse operations team as a Porter. This is an excellent role for someone with a keen eye for detail, who thrives in a fast-paced logistics setting and enjoys supporting colleagues to ensure smooth day-to-day warehouse activities.
Key Responsibilities in Warehouse Porter

• Assist with the receipt, checking, and safe storage of incoming deliveries, ensuring items are accurately handled and recorded.
• Support the picking, packing, and preparation of outgoing orders for timely dispatch, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Safely move, load, and unload goods using manual handling equipment as required, following correct health and safety procedures.
• Maintain clean, organised, and accessible warehouse aisles, storage areas, and communal spaces at all times.
• Work collaboratively with warehouse team members and supervisors to meet daily operational targets and deadlines.
• Assist with basic stock control, inventory checks, and reporting discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager promptly.
• Handle packaging materials and recycling waste according to company procedures and sustainability initiatives.
• Carry out regular checks to ensure a safe working environment, reporting hazards or incidents promptly.
• Support with ad hoc portering tasks and general building assistance across the site as required.
• Uphold company standards of professionalism and customer service, representing the business positively at all times.

Skills and Experience Required for Warehouse Porter Roles

• Previous experience in a warehouse, stores, logistics, or similar manual handling role is desirable but not essential--full training will be provided.
• Physical fitness, stamina, and the ability to carry out tasks involving lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, able to work positively and cooperatively with colleagues of all backgrounds.
• Good attention to detail, accuracy, and a methodical approach to work.
• Understanding of warehouse health and safety best practice--willingness to follow all SOPs and company policies.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible, with a positive 'can-do' attitude towards new tasks and changing priorities.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills for reading order lists and noting stock details.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to undergo background or reference checks as required.
• Forklift licence or previous warehouse equipment experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout the warehouse environment.
