The Plumber Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. This includes pipes, fixtures, drainage systems, and water systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and building codes.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Repairs:
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including water supply lines, waste disposal systems, and related appliances.
Fit and repair pipes, valves, drainage systems, and fixtures.
Inspection and Maintenance:
Inspect plumbing systems to identify and resolve issues such as leaks, clogs, or corrosion.
Perform preventive maintenance to avoid plumbing emergencies.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues and provide efficient solutions.
Test plumbing systems for leaks and other problems using air and water pressure gauges.
Blueprint Reading:
Interpret and work from blueprints, building plans, and specifications to determine layout and installation requirements.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure all plumbing work complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
Follow safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
Customer Interaction:
Communicate effectively with clients to understand their plumbing needs and provide recommendations.
Offer cost and time estimates for services.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a plumber technician.
Knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with plumbing codes and safety regulations.
Physical ability to work in confined spaces and lift heavy equipment.
Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
Education and Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification or diploma in plumbing technology is preferred.
Licensed plumber (as per local regulations).
Work Environment:
May require work in various settings, including residential, commercial, and construction sites.
On-call work may be required for emergencies.
