Plumber
Overall Purpose: To install, repair, and maintain pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing systems used for water distribution, drainage, and waste disposal in residential and commercial buildings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation: Install new plumbing systems in construction projects, including pipes, sinks, toilets, water heaters, and appliances according to building codes.
- Maintenance & Repair: Locate and diagnose issues (e.g., leaks, clogs, broken pipes). Repair or replace faulty parts, fixtures, and piping.
- Emergency Service: Respond to emergency calls for issues like burst pipes, severe clogs, or gas leaks, which may require work outside normal hours.
- Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards (e.g., preventing cross-connections).
- Customer Consultation: Advise customers on the best options for repairs or replacements and provide cost estimates.
- Journeyman or Master Plumber license/certification as required by local regulations.
- Completion of a technical school program and/or apprenticeship.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and building codes.
- Problem-solving skills and manual dexterity.
- Physical strength and ability to work in awkward spaces.
