What Does a Piping Supervisor Do?
- Lead and oversee piping installation and construction activities in heavy industrial or marine environments
- Supervise a multi-national workforce of pipefitters, welders, and general labor to achieve construction milestones
- Ensure adherence to safety practices, quality standards, and project specifications on-site
- Coordinate closely with project engineers, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to resolve field issues
- Maintain accurate records of progress, materials, manpower, and daily site operations
- Review and interpret isometric drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications to guide site execution
- Monitor compliance with ISO 9001, welding codes, and piping standards
- Participate in planning and scheduling activities using tools such as Primavera or MS Project
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, safety enhancements, and productivity optimization
- Communicate regularly in English and provide clear work direction and updates to management and team
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Supervise the day-to-day construction and installation of piping systems
- Ensure the team complies with safety regulations, material specifications, and piping layouts
- Review work packs, drawings, and schedules to align with project requirements
- Manage site logistics, manpower distribution, and material handling
- Report project updates, resource utilization, and technical issues to engineering leads
- Participate in audits, inspections, and client reviews to ensure quality and safety compliance
What Skills Are Needed for a Piping Supervisor in Dubai?
Education:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Certifications such as CSWIP, ASNT Level II, or relevant piping supervision training are preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of formal supervisory experience in piping projects
- Experience in shipyards, refineries, petrochemical complexes, or power plants is essential
- Proven background in managing piping staff and construction operations
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in piping engineering practices and safety procedures
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, Primavera, MS Project, AutoCAD, MS Word, and Excel
- Strong understanding of welding processes, NDT techniques, and quality standards
- Ability to read and interpret piping isometrics and layout drawings
Soft Skills:
