The PE teacher is responsible for all aspects pertaining to the effective functioning of the department within the school and local community. The job will involve considerable areas of responsibility in addition to the regular duties of teaching. Planning, implementation, organisation, evaluation and development of the physical education curriculum for the section.
Establishing effective teaching methodology in the context of hygiene and safety.
Developing and maintaining realistic, reliable, and valid assessment procedures.
Liaising and co-operating with educational establishments and governing bodies of sport.
Preparation, teaching, evaluation, assessment, recording and reporting.
Preparation of written reports relating to aspects of the department and its associated activities.
Striving to develop and maintain quality assurance of the total physical education experience of all pupils within the school.
Establishing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating departmental philosophy, aims, objectives, priorities and operational procedures.
The management and maintenance of all subject related resources and facilities.
Participate in and contribute to the whole school management policies and procedures.
Advising the HOD on subject-related matters if necessary.
Liaising and co-operating with advisory and support services and other departments as appropriate.
