. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of traditional recipes, ingredients, and presentation styles from across the Middle East and neighboring regions, combined with the creativity to bring a modern twist to classic favorites.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, bake, and present a variety of Middle Eastern and Oriental pastries and desserts (e.g., baklava, kunafa, maamoul, basbousa, qatayef, Turkish delights, halva, etc.).
Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation of all dessert items.
Develop new dessert offerings inspired by traditional flavors, with seasonal and innovative twists.
Manage pastry kitchen operations, including inventory control, cost management, and hygiene standards.
Supervise and train junior kitchen staff and pastry assistants as needed.
Maintain proper storage of ingredients and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
Collaborate with the Executive Chef and F&B team to plan dessert menus for a la carte service, events, and catering functions.
Ensure all production is completed in a timely manner, meeting service deadlines.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Dessert Chef specializing in Middle Eastern and Oriental desserts.
Formal culinary/pastry training is a plus.
Strong knowledge of regional ingredients, spices, and techniques (e.g., use of rose water, orange blossom, semolina, phyllo dough, etc.).
Creativity and passion for pastry arts.
Excellent attention to detail and presentation.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety regulations (HACCP).
