The Health Healthcare team have been growing year-on-year with a team of over lawyers and national coverage, we are one of the leading firms providing legal advice and support to the NHS and independent healthcare organisations. Our dedicated Healthcare team is now looking to recruit a Paralegal, who will assist with a wide range of advisory work for the NHS and other public and private organisations operating in the Health and Social Care Sector. Introduction to the team: An exciting opportunity join our rapidly growing team of highly experienced specialists working on a wide range of healthcare matters for the NHS and other public and private organisations operating in the Health and social care sector. Experts in their field, the team regularly advises NHS bodies, private providers and insurers on a range of issues including inquests and public inquiries, best interests applications, claims for judicial review, mental health law, patient care issues, and clinical and corporate governance matters. We have specialist teams working exclusively for the healthcare sector on commercial, procurement, employment and property matters. Our Health team can genuinely say it is award winning, having received major recognition over the last few years, most recently being named as Legal Services Provider of the Year by the Health Service Journal. Key responsibilities: Client secondments - dealing with inquests and claims Drafting Instructions to Counsel Drafting witness statements Research and drafting advice Preparing Power Point slides and documentation for training events Organising medical records Preparing chronologies of medical records Preparing bundles of documents for use at Inquests and Court of Protection Note taking at Inquests, meetings and conferences with Counsel Generally assisting associates, senior associates, legal directors and partners with their work load Preparing of minutes following team meetings Answering the telephone and assisting with queries Assisting with administration tasks when required A number of client orientated tasks that will be chargeable and will carry a billable hours target What we are looking for Essential: The ability to work independently in addition to as part of a team Ability to deliver technically accurate and appropriate advice to clients, colleagues and others Adheres to guidelines and procedures, whilst showing appropriate initiative Demonstrates competence in own area of expertise Demonstrates understanding of client needs/expectations Ability to interact and communicate with client and keep them up-to-date Excellent communication skills Desirable: Regulatory/health law experience
