Job Summary: The Operations Manager for Post Fixture Operations in the dry bulk shipping industry, from a shipowner\'s standpoint, is responsible for co-ordinate the day-to-day operational activities of a fleet of bulk carriers in an efficient, timely and cost-effective manner, to ensure the owner and charter expectations are met.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Contract Management: Ensure that all post-fixture operations align with the terms and conditions stipulated in charter party agreements and contracts, protecting the owner\'s interests. Voyage Planning and Optimization: Collaborate with chartering and commercial teams to develop efficient voyage plans, considering factors like route selection, fuel consumption, and vessel performance to maximize profitability. Cost Control: Monitor and manage operational costs, including vessel maintenance, bunkering, ageing fees, port fees, and other expenses, to ensure cost-effective operations and maximize owner\'s returns. Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to vessel operations, including turnaround times, fuel consumption, and voyage profitability. Implement strategies for performance improvement. Port and Terminal Relations: Maintain relationships with agents, port authorities, terminals, and service providers to facilitate smooth vessel movements, minimize delays, and optimize port calls. Documentation and Compliance: Oversee the preparation and review of essential documentation, including bills of lading, cargo manifests, and certificates, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks, such as demurrage, detention, and cargo claims, by implementing appropriate risk management strategies and procedures. Communication: Act as the primary point of contact between the shipowner and charterers, ensuring effective communication and addressing any operational issues or disputes promptly. Safety culture: To actively promote the company\xe2\x80\x99s safety culture and standards across the vessel. Team Management: Supervise a team of operations professionals, including operations coordinators and port captains, providing guidance, support, and leadership to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Requirements
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in any marine-related courses. Ex Master or Chief Officer with sailing experience will be preferred for this role
Minimum of 5 years of experience in carrying out the shore based \xe2\x80\x93 day to day operations of a fleet of bulk carriers (Sea experience would be essential)
Previous working experience in Post Fixtures & Ship Operations ideally with a ship owner
Basic knowledge of dry cargoes, dry bulk vessels, charter parties, P and I clubs
Good command of spoken and written English
Should have experience on some Post fixture software
