The Operations Manager, Car Care Services, is responsible for the overall success, efficiency, and profitability of the company's vehicle detailing, appearance, and protection department. This role involves leading the car care team, optimizing workflow, ensuring the highest level of quality control, managing inventory, and guaranteeing outstanding customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong technical understanding of car care processes and proven operational management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Efficiency
Oversee all day-to-day operations of the car care department, including scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation.
Develop, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all services (e.g., detailing, ceramic coating, paint correction, PPF/wrapping) to ensure consistent, high-quality output.
Monitor and analyze departmental KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) such as productivity, cost of labor/materials, efficiency rates, and quality check failures.
Manage equipment maintenance and calibration to ensure optimal working condition and longevity.
Quality Control & Customer Experience
Conduct final vehicle inspections and quality checks on all completed jobs to ensure they meet the company's and customer's aesthetic standards before delivery.
Manage customer inquiries, feedback, and escalated complaints regarding car care services, ensuring prompt and satisfactory resolution.
Work closely with Service Advisors and Sales teams to clearly communicate service options, timelines, and costs to customers.
Drive continuous improvement in customer satisfaction scores (CSI).
Team Management & Development
Lead, mentor, train, and supervise a team of Car Care Technicians, Detailers, and support staff.
Manage staffing levels, including recruiting, hiring, and performance management, to maintain peak operational capacity.
Develop and conduct regular technical training on new products, chemicals, and advanced detailing/protection techniques.
Foster a positive, safe, and collaborative work environment focused on professionalism and excellence.
Inventory & Financial Management
Manage the department budget, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-control measures.
Oversee inventory control for all supplies, chemicals, equipment, and protection films, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing waste and loss.
Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers for materials, tools, and chemicals.
Contribute to the development of new car care packages and pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
Required Qualifications
Experience in automotive service operations, detailing, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in advanced car detailing, paint correction, and vehicle protection services (e.g., ceramic coatings, PPF).
Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and drive revenue growth.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in automotive management software and inventory tracking systems.
