Job purpose :

You will plan and direct the execution of activities related to the Commercial department.

You will manage the execution of activities related to service provision including sweeping, waste collection, industrial services, specialist and normal cleaning contracts, and hazardous waste management in line with Veolia\'s local and global safety, welfare, and compliance guidelines.

Moreover, you will be responsible for meeting business targets that are set by your manager.

Job responsibilities :

Operations:
  • Oversee the management of the operational teams in the safe delivery of waste management and cleaning services to the required level of quality and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor and improve where necessary the service quality and customer satisfaction
  • Manage the team of coordinators and supervisors to ensure the implementation of the services in a safe, efficient, and well-planned manner
  • Ensure daily operations morning meetings are held between the operations team, workshop, and BD team to encourage the sharing of relevant information to allow smooth delivery of service to customers
  • Work cooperatively with other department heads (in particular HR and Maintenance) to ensure the Commercial department is supplied with sufficient resources to carry out planned and ongoing duties and to mobilise new projects.
  • Schedule and conduct periodic quality checks on the ground to ensure compliance with the procedures, customer expectations, and work instructions
  • Make sure Operations are carried out in compliance with local laws (environmental and safety regulations and labour law)
  • Design, document and implement methods for work activities to increase efficiency and effectiveness in Waste Collection functions
Commercial:
  • Manage the commercial activity to renew contracts and win new business
  • Work closely with the Business Development Manager to agree on which tenders to target, support the tender process with resource plans, operating plans, and technical solutions
  • Carry out customer visits to monitor performance, solve technical problems, and identify and develop business opportunities
  • Maintain ongoing market and competitive intelligence within the target sectors
  • Liaise with Key account Customers provide updates on performance/regulations and maintain good customer relationships. Good client relationship management is essential
  • Investigate complaints from clients regarding Waste Collection activities, and ensure that all personnel act and perform in a professional manner
  • Respond within an acceptable period to customer demands
Business Management:
  • Participate in the company budget process by developing the budget for the Commercial Department, monitoring performance against budget, and delivering the required services within budget.
  • Ensuring budget and revisions are aligned with revenue and growth forecasts
  • Keeps immediate line manager fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems
  • Identify and implement cost savings by optimisation of vehicles and manpower
  • Develop an annual CAPEX investment plan to maintain the serviceability of the fleet and meet growth requirements
  • Drive forward digitalization of the Commercial Department to utilise fully mobile technology and the company\'s IT systems
  • Use, improve, and implement new dashboards and reports to ensure visibility of operational, safety, and financial aspects of the Commercial department.
  • Ensure appraisals are completed for all department staff identify training needs, and encourage the continuous development of colleagues in the technical and personal plans
  • Diligently perform any other reasonable work or related tasks at the request of his/her manager.
Quality Health Safety & Environment:
  • Understand, implement, and follow the QHSE policy.
  • Report any HSE incident immediately as per VESE HSE procedures.
  • Implement and coordinate QHSE procedures onsite.
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety of all personnel under his authority, including others who may be affected by the company\'s activities.
  • Understanding and implementing the company HSE policy, plans, and procedures.
  • Conducting Risk Assessments in collaboration with the QHSE coordinator on activities related to commercial operations and ensuring that the methods and systems of work are safe
  • Provide written and verbal instructions outlining potential hazards and precautions, and ensuring they are complied with.
  • Ensuring incident and near-miss reporting procedures are understood and complied with, and assisting with accident investigations where appropriate.
  • Ensuring all employees and sub-contractors are suitably trained/competent to carry out the prescribed task and that the necessary licenses/certificates of competence are in force and appropriate.
  • Ensure that the employees reporting to him are following the training program defined in the QHSE system.
  • Warn and issue notices where necessary to employees in case of breach of QHSE rules.
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and authority in the Operation Department.
  • Comply with the QHSE policy of VESE
  • Understand his/her role in the event of an emergency and participate in emergency drills and exercises
  • Maintain the quality control objectives formulated by the BU management and coordinate the objectives with the service performance procedures in collaboration with the heads of the division
  • Ensure all corrective actions assigned to staff arising from audits, incidents and HSE reviews are implemented on time
  • Ensure all Hazardous Waste jobs are completed using the applicable Permit to Work Procedures

  • Produce requested reports as and when required by the Line Manager
Communication:
  • Report all relevant information to the Line Manager promptly and accurately.
  • Ensure effective, accurate, and prompt communication with all other departments, clients, suppliers, and Veolia teams.
Qualifications

Academic Skills:
  • Hold a Bachelor\'s Degree in Environment, Engineering or equivalent from a well recognised and reputable academic institution.
  • A Master\'s Degree is an advantage.
  • Minimum 10 - 15 years experience in the same field in a well-reputed organization. Ideally 3 years experience as an Operations Manager with logistics experience
Technical Skills:
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • UAE valid light vehicle driving license is a must.
  • Innovative and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Effective problem identification, problem-solving and improvement implementation.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of collection and sweeping operations and programs
  • Thorough knowledge of current applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations for solid waste refuse collection environmental compliance activities
  • Thorough knowledge of collection route design principles and practices;
  • Substantial knowledge of customer service principles, practices and techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and supervise the work of others
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions
  • Ability to prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations
  • Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to assigned tasks
  • Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology
  • Integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks
