Job Description

This position oversees the park\'s core operation, ensuring a safe, smooth, and efficient operation. This role plays a critical role in the park operations as it must provide, by Maintenance, that all rides and attractions are available during park operations hours for our guests to experience the park in the safest way possible. This role also oversees ensuring that all the functions of the Guest Services team are available to operate during park operating hours for our guests. This role must work closely with all operational teams and department heads, including Maintenance, to provide guests with the safest and most enjoyable experience possible. To promote good business practices within the department, focusing on achieving the highest possible guest service standards. The Operations Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with all standard operating and emergency procedures while keeping up to date with industry innovations and trends and implementing them where appropriate. Job Scope:
  • Build department and company image by establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external guests, including the leadership team and colleagues
  • Establish the Operations Department Strategy and develop a strategic plan by studying industry, technological and financial opportunities; presenting assumptions; recommending objectives
  • Set policies and procedures to help departments and businesses achieve goals
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Coordinate project management through inter-departmental relationships
  • Establish and maintain communication lines intra and inter-departmentally
  • Collaborate with the executive leadership team to implement necessary changes as time goes on
  • Assist with determining weather-related closures and any emergency procedures with the leadership team
  • Responsible for the overall running and operations of the aquatic facility
  • Accomplish objectives by establishing plans, budgets, and results in measurements; allocating resources; reviewing progress; making mid-course corrections
  • Responsible for department\'s planning and risk management by creating and implementing risk management protocol and verifying compliance within standard operating procedures, health and safety standards, and other rules and regulations, audit guidelines, etc.
  • Increase Operation\'s leadership team effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining them; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing incentives; developing a climate for offering information and opinions; providing learning and development opportunities.
  • Responsible for creating/developing, organizing, and implementing aquatic programs, special events, and other assigned programs, including initiation of promotional opportunities and materials for events and programs
  • Oversee the management of the lifeguard certification process (certification, training, in-services, and record-keeping) by providing training programs for new and existing colleagues and ensure that job expectations, job training, duties, and responsibilities are communicated and that they are providing quality guest service at all times
  • Report any safety concerns to the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager and Deputy General Manager to maintain the highest safety and hygiene standards.
  • Conduct training, coaching, performance evaluations, and appraisals where necessary for the business and Team
  • Responsible for department\'s discipline, recognition, training and development, and succession plan
  • Assess and communicate departmental performance to key stakeholders as deemed necessary
  • Drive Operations Department Leadership to meet Key Performance Indicators and Strategic Plan Objectives
  • Motivate the Operations team to meet KPIs, Guest Satisfaction, Colleague Satisfaction, and safety standards
  • Responsible for the basic mechanical operations of the aquatic facility, including but not limited to knowledge in water chemistry, pool cleaning, draining backwashing, and coordination with the Maintenance Team regarding shared materials and facilities
  • Ensure the workforce is planned accordingly based on manufacturers\' recommendations, safe Operation, and park attendance. Assist with recruitment and selection of new team members, orientation, training & development
  • Create documents such as training records, standard operating procedures, and standard training plans
  • Ensure that orderly records and appropriate documents/files are prepared promptly, reported and communicated as required, and maintained at all times
  • Ride all rides, slides, and attractions as needed for operational purposes.
  • Work at heights, in water, and extreme temperatures, outside, year-round
  • Ensure that all manufacturer guidelines and SOPs regarding ride dispatch and guest safety are communicated
  • May need to work nights, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies
To be considered for this role, you will need:
  • Educated degree level in General Education Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • International Lifeguard Training Program Instructor or similar experience in another lifeguard program
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO)/ Aquatic Facility Operation (AFO) Certification
  • International Lifeguard Training Program Instructor Trainer
  • Minimum One year in guest services and One year of handling ticketing systems
  • More significant than five years of leadership experience in the waterpark or other leisure industry
  • Previous lifeguard experience/certification and guest/customer service experience
