Job Description

The job holder is responsible for developing and maintaining safety assessments and safety cases to ensure that all changes to CNS/ATC systems, procedures, and infrastructure are implemented safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with GCAA regulations and international safety management standards.

The role provides subject matter expertise in both operational and technical domains, supporting project sponsors and operational stakeholders in fulfilling safety assurance obligations throughout the lifecycle of change. The Specialist ensures that safety assessment processes are applied consistently and to the required quality across all relevant projects and business-as-usual (BAU) activities. This includes supporting regulatory approvals for applicable operational or technical changes and ensuring full compliance with any conditions set by the GCAA.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience:

Degree / diploma or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 5 years operational Air Traffic Engineering or Air Traffic Control experience at a major international airport. Further studies and / or qualifications relevant to ATC, ATES, Aeronautical Engineering, Safety Management etc. Demonstrated experience in safety assessment, SMS application, and safety case development. Familiarity with DIMS, SMM, ICAO SARPs, GCAA Regulations. Experience in risk assessment techniques (e.g. HAZID, Bowtie, HAZOP). Experience working as part of a project team. Internal auditing or quality assurance exposure is desirable. Experience working with or within regulatory bodies would be advantageous. Prior experience in managing or supporting change implementation from a safety perspective. Basic and Advanced Safety Management Systems Classroom Instructional Techniques (CIT) course or equivalent Risk assessment tool/software experience would be advantageous Relevant Aviation Safety Management experience may also be considered suitable for this role. Incident Investigation qualification would be advantageous. An understanding of the principles of Information Security including Information Security Risk Management i.e. knowledge of ISO27001:2013 and ISR.
