Job Purpose

Plan, direct and coordinate drilling, completion and workover operations in assigned offshore blocks.

Job Responsibilities

Operations: Coordinate, monitor and guide drilling, completion and workover activities.
1. Coordinate, monitor and report on mobilization and pre-spud activities.
2. Review and approve all programs and procedures related to the operational phase of the proposed work program.
3. Monitor the progress of well operations in conjunction with operations and engineering staff. Recommend and implement changes to the work program as needed to optimize safety and cost efficiency while meeting well objectives.
4. Coordinate the scheduling and resourcing of Drilling Supervisors and other company rig personnel.
5. Approve movement of equipment and personnel to and from platform.
6. Provide operational input and assistance to Drilling Supervisors on a 24-hour basis as required.
7. Perform quality control review of daily drilling reports, final well reports, contractor reports and other documentation about drilling rig operations.
8. Ensure cost control over well operations by reviewing AFEs, monitoring daily well costs, validating invoices submitted for payment, approving invoice amounts and allocations and identifying and resolving any invoices involving disputes, discrepancies or nonconformance.

Ensure compliance with company\'s operational and HSE policies, standards and guidelines.
1. Ensure that all persons involved in well planning and operations are briefed on and in compliance with Dragon Oil standards, policies and guidelines.
2. Monitor conformance with company standards, policies and best practices. Identify instances of noncompliance and implement corrective action.
3. Coordinate and participate in operations, safety and environmental audit teams. Close out findings of teams once audits are completed.
4. Take a lead role in promoting and implementing company HSE policies and best practices.
5. Ensure that emergency response plans and site-specific HSE plans are in place and up-to-date.
6. Ensure that contractors, service companies and outside parties comply with company HSE requirements.

Technical: Provide guidance and support to well project teams.
1. Provide drilling operations input during the planning and design phases of well projects.
2. Review and approve the well design.
3. Provide direction on the scheduling and progress of operations.
4. Provide input regarding operational contingencies.
5. Ensure that best practices are followed throughout the project, and that HSE standards are met in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
6. Work with engineers and operating staff to identify and target areas for performance improvement. Consider both existing and new equipment, procedures and technologies.
7. Monitor and report on performance improvement initiatives.

Liaison and coordination.
1. Review drilling, completion or workover fluid programs with drilling engineering and operations teams (both in Dubai and Hazar) and with service company representatives.
2. Liaise with internal stakeholders (i.e., geologists, production department) involved in well site operations, and with drilling support group personnel involved in providing transportation and logistical services.
3. Maintain effective and proper working relationships with service companies to ensure that company requirements are understood and met in terms of expected standards of quality and performance.

Reporting: Prepare reports in support of department activities.
1. Prepare and submit detailed reports of rig activities.
2. Generate project execution plans for well campaigns.

Coaching, Training and Mentoring: Actively contribute to the
development of staff.
1. Support department staff in meeting needs for employee training, development and skill gap closure.

Education

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering
• Minimum 15 years of experience in drilling and workover operations and engineering. Preferred breakdown of experience as follows: 7 years in offshore activities, including horizontal and/or extended reach drilling; 3 years of experience in drilling gas wells and/or HPHT wells; 5 years of experience in a supervisory position.
