Job Description

Title: Nursery Manager Reporting to: Group Director Location: Dubai, UAE The Nursery Manager is responsible for the operation, health, welfare, safety and development of the setting in line with Step by Step Nursery curriculum, policies and procedures. This requires strong and innovative leadership; a deep understanding of the development and learning needs of young children and their families and a commitment to quality and the highest standards. The role also requires a wider perspective and contribution to the growth of the group and the learning and development of all education staff. Your responsibilities will include: Ensuring efficient operational, administrative, business and financial systems are in place including accurate processing of admissions, managing the budget and marketing to ensure target numbers are met. This will include conducting an annual evaluation of the setting; supporting and maintaining an annual business and improvement plan; customising and updating Step by Step policies and procedures ensuring that the setting is inclusive and meets internal QA and external inspection requirements. Making recommendations and proposals about service developments and changes. Developing the ethos of the setting; fostering an environment of excellence and high standards in terms of education and care so that children are encouraged in their all-round development - personally, socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually and spiritually. Promoting and emphasising how Step by Step Nursery provides education to enhance cognitive development as well as excellent care. Manage the recruitment of high quality staff, induction, professional development/INSET and performance review. Leading and co-ordinating the Step by Step team, including delegation of tasks and responsibilities; management of duty rosters; effective communication. Overseeing planning based on the EYFS curriculum and Inquiry-based learning. Assessing children using the new EYFS profile; liaising with feeder schools ensuring transfer of information enabling progression to the next stage of learning. Managing resources, including the development of outside play, ensuring that resources are appropriate, clean, correctly stored, labelled and well maintained. Ensuring high quality displays celebrating children's work within a stimulating and attractive environment. Providing effective communication with parents face to face and online. Leading the team to work in partnership with parents and families providing opportunities for parents to engage with and support the learning and development of their children. Skills required Qualifications/Knowledge: (MANDATORY) Have a degree in Early Childhood Education and Care or a CACHE Level 5 professional qualification; or appropriate teaching qualification; Police Clearance certificate or DBS. Knowledge and understanding of the New Early Years Foundation Stage and Inquiry-based learning. A commitment to high standards which underpins every aspect of Step by Step Nursery; have knowledge, understanding and practical experience of day care for young children. Have knowledge and practical understanding of child development and parenting. Have knowledge and understanding of the legislation, regulations and inspection of settings in the UAE and Emirate of Dubai. Have knowledge and the ability to create and implement policies and procedures consistent with legislation, regulations and Step by Step Nursery requirements. Skills: Excellent oral, written and IT communication skills. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritize, plan, adapt and meet deadlines. Excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to listen to and empathise with others; a willingness to accept positive criticism; sensitivity and discretion. Must have the ability to think creatively and to solve problems, be able to work independently and manage time efficiently. Personality Profile: Have high levels of commitment, resilience, motivation, energy and enthusiasm. Should be presentable with a good sense of humor. Professional, approachable, friendly and able to communicate effectively at all times. Experience: Have experience of leading, managing, supervising and appraising staff. Have knowledge and experience of developing a business; able to contribute to the design and development; financial management; promotion and marketing. Job Type: Full-time
