Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for the clinical/administrative activities of assigned department/unit, leads, directs, coordinates and manages nursing, allied health/paramedical and administrative staff within the assigned department/unit.

Provides clinical expertise and promotes evidence-based practice.

Provides senior leadership and management to the critical care nursing workforce, ensuring that all staff has regular appraisals, and clinical supervision and can professionally develop.

Formulates and implements risk reduction strategies which include environmental risk management, and patient clinical risk management.

Utilises principles of child and family-centered care to ensure a seamless continuum of care for children in collaboration with the interdisciplinary.

Delegate duties to appropriately skilled nurses, along with monitoring care delivery.

Provides leadership and coordination for any circumstances requiring immediate response, resolution or referral during regular rounding on assigned departments/unit.

Contributes to the annual manpower plan for assigned department/unit and works closely with the Director of Nursing and recruitment team to participate in the recruitment process of new team members.

Facilitates the incorporation of patient safety and journey to the pathway of excellence principles into clinical nursing care.

Coordinates and evaluates patient care through unit and patient rounding, and child/family-related conferences as needed.

Defines and evaluates employee performance through performance appraisals.

Model and promote workplace behavior that reflects the code of conduct.

Facilitates optimum patient flow in the unit or department through coordination between unit leadership staff and patient flow team.

Monitor staff performance by ensuring performance management processes are implemented for all staff in a timely manner.

Take responsibility and accountability for their own, and their staff's clinical practice, critical reflection, professional development and performance assessment and review.

Welcomes and actively participates in staff/student orientation, promoting and supporting a positive learning environment and transcultural principles in nursing practice.

Education:

Essential: A Bachelor's degree in Pediatric or Child Health Nursing from an accredited institute/college/university OR a Bachelor's degree in Nursing of at least three (3) years duration from an accredited institute/college/university.

Preferred: Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred. Post Graduate Training qualification in Pediatric Nursing of at least one (1) year duration.

  • Post Graduate Certificate in specialty if applicable in the country of origin
Experience:

A total of 6 years post qualification inclusive of 2 years experience as a charge nurse /team leader and 1 year acting as manager or 2 years' previous experience as a manager

Certification and Licensure:
  • Valid and current professional Nursing license from country of origin
  • Ability to qualify for UAE nursing licensure requirements
  • Life Support and Advanced Life support Training
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) required OR Intermediate Life Support (ILS) Depending on Assigned/Unit Department. PALS and/or Neonatal Life Support depending on staff unit requirement
  • The position requires a considerable amount of physical work and movement atleast 25% of the time. In addition, the position requires office work involving extensive use of the computer and interdepartmental coordination.
