Job Purpose

A hands-on data scientist who is passionate about data and want to apply machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems that will make a lasting impact on society. You will work closely with the wider team to ensure high-quality algorithms are delivered in line with the project goals and delivery cycles. You will work on all aspects of the design development and delivery of machine learning enables solutions including data acquisition from diverse sources, data exploration, feature engineering, evaluating algorithms, and deploying the models iteratively to improve the final solution.

Key Responsibilities

? Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes

? Undertake preprocessing of structured and unstructured data;

? Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns;

? Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms;

? Combine models through ensemble modeling;

? Present information using data visualization techniques;

? Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges;

? Proactively advise on best practices.;

? Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets;

? Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development;

? Remain updated in the rapidly changing field of machine learning;

? Interpret and present the insights using data visualization techniques;

? Collaborate with engineering and product development teams;

Education, Experience and Required Skills

Educational Qualification

MSc (or Ph.D. degree) in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Industrial / Systems Engineering, Applied Statistics, etc.

Experience

Experienced with 6+ years working with data-driven projects including 3+ years of data science experience

Essential Skills

? Experience with extracting and aggregating data from large data sets using SQL, Hive or other tools;

? Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and data mining techniques in one or more areas of predictive modeling, text mining, information retrieval, time series analysis, and statistical modeling;

? Identify and extract interesting patterns from structured and unstructured data;

? Experience in building state of the art text mining pipeline to work with unstructured data;

? Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interaction skills, including the ability to effectively communicate architectural issues and concepts to multiple organization levels and executive management;

? Technical background in data with a deep understanding of issues in multiple areas such as data acquisition and processing, data management, distributed processing, and high availability is required. Experience in statistics, data mining, machine learning and operational excellence of production systems is a plus;

? Collaborate with a cross-functional team including data scientists and software engineers;

? Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development;

? Knowledge of the most important libraries for NLP;

? Understanding of NLP techniques for text representation, semantic extraction techniques, data structures and modeling;

? Experience with machine learning frameworks e.g., Theano, Tensorflow;

? Good knowledge of Python and R;

? Experience working with educational data sets;

? Excellent communication skills;

? Attention to detail, and ability to work in a high-pressure environment;

? Natural curiosity to learn technologies, business models, and industry trends;
