We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer - ISP (Data Center) to design, deploy, and maintain reliable network connectivity and structured cabling within our data center facilities. The role focuses on ensuring seamless high-speed communication across servers, storage, and networking systems, leveraging Corning, Panduit, and Commscope certified solutions to meet global standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design, implement, and support ISP-grade data center network infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper structured cabling systems.
Configure and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and data center interconnectivity to ensure high availability.
Deploy and maintain Corning, Panduit, and Commscope certified cabling solutions according to OEM guidelines.
Perform fiber splicing, OTDR testing, certification, and documentation of cabling systems.
Manage rack layouts, patch panels, labeling, and structured cable routing in data centers.
Ensure compliance with TIA/EIA, BICSI, and ISO/IEC data center cabling standards.
Collaborate with network operations, facilities, and vendor teams to support expansions, migrations, and upgrades.
Conduct network performance monitoring, fault isolation, and preventive maintenance.
Prepare technical documentation, diagrams, and reports for audits and compliance.
Support 24/7 mission-critical data center operations, ensuring minimal downtime.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Network Engineer in ISP or Data Center environments.
Mandatory OEM Certifications:
Corning Certified (Fiber Optic Systems)
Panduit Certified (Structured Cabling)
Commscope Certified (Network Infrastructure Solutions)
Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs).
Hands-on expertise with fiber optic cabling, copper cabling, splicing, and OTDR testing.
Knowledge of data center standards (TIA-942, Uptime Institute, BICSI).
Familiarity with NOC tools, monitoring systems, and troubleshooting methodologies.
Excellent communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
Ability to work in fast-paced, 24/7 mission-critical environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Application Question(s):
This role emphasizes expertise with specific vendor products. If you were tasked with building a new fiber-optic network segment in our data center using a mix of Corning and Commscope solutions, describe the key steps you would take from design to final testing and documentation. What specific tests would you perform, and how would you ensure the installation meets TIA/EIA standards?
The job description mentions a strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, and MPLS. Describe a scenario where you would use BGP in a data center environment, and how it differs from using an interior gateway protocol like OSPF. In what situation would MPLS be a crucial part of the network design for data center interconnectivity?
critical fiber optic link between two data centers goes down. You suspect a physical cable issue. Walk me through your troubleshooting process using tools like an OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer). What are you looking for in the OTDR trace, and what potential issues could it reveal? How would you use this information to pinpoint the exact location of the fault?
Given the mission-critical nature of this role, how would you design a highly available network infrastructure within a data center to handle component failures? Describe how you would use technologies like VLANs and protocols to ensure minimal downtime in the event of a switch or link failure
Do you have any Certification for these three OEMs: Corning Certified (Fiber Optic Systems), Panduit Certified (Structured Cabling) and Commscope Certified (Network Infrastructure Solutions)?
