MEP Mechanical QA/QC Engineer

Job Summary:

The MEP Mechanical QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.) are installed in accordance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards. The role includes reviewing drawings, conducting inspections, preparing reports, and coordinating with contractors, consultants, and the construction team to maintain a high level of mechanical workmanship throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Control Oversight

Inspect mechanical installations (HVAC, fire fighting, plumbing, etc.) to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and industry codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.). Monitor and verify all mechanical works at site are as per approved ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans). Witness testing and commissioning of mechanical systems and review associated documentation.

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and maintain QA/QC documentation including inspection checklists, method statements, test reports, material submittals, and NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports). Track and close punch list items and coordinate with relevant teams for rectification. Ensure proper documentation of testing, commissioning, and approvals.

Coordination

Coordinate with main contractors, MEP subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders. Participate in internal and external audits, site meetings, and inspections. Liaise with procurement to ensure approved materials are used on-site.

Compliance & Standards

Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, local authority guidelines). Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures, and assist in continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Minimum 6-8 years experience in MEP QA/QC role, preferably in large-scale construction projects. Strong knowledge of HVAC, fire fighting, plumbing systems. Familiar with international standards and local authority regulations. Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and QA/QC documentation tools.
