Position Overview
This role serves as a key technical and commercial position at the project level. The MEP Engineer will be responsible for on-site execution and coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and HVAC systems, as well as quantity take-off, BOQ preparation, procurement inquiries, and quotation preparation. The position supports project bidding, cost control, and overall project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Drawings & Technical Management
Review and interpret MEP construction drawings, tender drawings, and specifications (Electrical / Mechanical / Plumbing / Fire Fighting / Low Current).
Lead technical review, drawing clarification, and coordination meetings.
Ensure compliance with UAE authority requirements, including Civil Defense, DEWA/ADDC, Etihad WE, and relevant municipality regulations.
Coordinate with consultants, clients, and main contractors to resolve technical issues and implement design changes.
2. Site Execution & Construction Management
Manage daily MEP site activities including technical briefings, quality control, safety compliance, and progress monitoring.
Supervise subcontractors or in-house teams to ensure workmanship meets approved materials and project specifications.
Coordinate with civil and other disciplines to ensure smooth inter-trade execution and avoid site conflicts.
3. Quantity Take-off & BOQ Management
Independently perform quantity take-off for all MEP systems based on tender drawings and IFC drawings (e.g., cables, cable trays, DBs, ducts, refrigerant pipes, PPR/HDPE/PVC pipes, firefighting systems, exhaust fans, etc.).
Prepare, verify, and update BOQs ensuring alignment with drawings and actual site quantities.
Handle quantity verification for variations and claims and support the commercial team during project final accounts.
4. Quotation & Cost Control
Conduct procurement inquiries for materials, equipment, and subcontracting works; prepare comparison sheets and evaluate quotations.
Prepare MEP tender quotations, cost estimates, budgets, and basic cost analyses independently.
Support the commercial department in preparing MEP-related tender documents, clarifications, and responses.
Provide value engineering suggestions and participate in cost optimization during project execution.
5. Documentation & Coordination
Prepare daily and weekly reports, progress reports, material request forms (MIR), inspection requests (RFI), and other project documentation as required.
Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers through emails, meetings, and minutes of meeting.
Execute any additional MEP-related tasks assigned by project management.
Candidate Requirements
1. Work Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP construction or MEP quantity surveying/estimation.
UAE/GCC project experience is highly preferred.
Experience in apartments, villas, camps, factories, or hotel MEP projects will be an advantage.
2. Technical Skills
Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings (Architectural, Structural, and MEP).
Proficient in AutoCAD, capable of making minor adjustments and annotations.
Able to independently complete MEP quantity take-off and BOQ preparation.
Knowledge of UAE market materials, equipment brands, and price ranges is a plus.
Familiarity with UAE authority guidelines and approval processes (Civil Defense, DEWA/ADDC, Etihad WE, Municipalities) is preferred.
Salary Range
AED 8,000 - 12,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
