The MEP Draftsman is responsible for preparing accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems based on project specifications and engineering input. The role requires collaboration with design and site teams to ensure the drawings reflect project needs and comply with relevant standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare MEP coordination drawings, shop drawings, and as-built drawings for HVAC, firefighting, plumbing, and electrical systems
Interpret design concepts and translate them into detailed engineering drawings
Coordinate with structural and architectural teams to ensure clash-free layouts
Update drawings based on site conditions and engineering changes
Maintain drawing logs and ensure document control standards are followed
Assist engineers in reviewing design plans, load calculations, and equipment layouts
Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, local authority regulations, and company CAD standards
Participate in technical meetings and drawing reviews with consultants and clients
Assist in preparing quantity take-offs from MEP drawings
Perform site visits as needed for verification and coordination
Requirements
Diploma or ITI in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or relevant drafting certification
3-5 years of experience in MEP drafting within construction or contracting firms
Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit MEP, Navisworks, or BIM is an advantage
Familiar with UAE building codes and MEP coordination practices
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
Good communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
