MEP COORDINATOR
Job Title: MEP Coordinator (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Coordinator)
Reports To: Project Manager, MEP Manager
Summary: An MEP Coordinator is a specialized technical professional who manages the integration and coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems within a building project. Their primary focus is on resolving spatial conflicts in the design phase using 3D modeling to prevent costly issues during construction.
Key Responsibilities:

• Clash Detection: Use Building Information Modeling (BIM) software (like Revit, Navisworks) to create 3D models of MEP systems and identify clashes between different trades (e.g., a pipe running through a duct) or with the structural elements.
• Coordination Drawings: Develop and maintain detailed composite coordination drawings and models that integrate all MEP systems seamlessly.
• Design Coordination: Facilitate coordination meetings between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural subcontractors and designers.
• Problem Resolution: Propose solutions and alternatives to resolve design conflicts before they reach the construction phase.
• Liaison Role: Act as the technical liaison between the design team, MEP subcontractors, and the general contractor to ensure design intent is met.
• Quality Assurance: Review MEP shop drawings and submittals for accuracy and coordination.
• On-Site Support: Provide support during construction to address any unforeseen coordination issues that arise.
• Standards Compliance: Ensure all coordinated models and drawings comply with project specifications, design standards, and building codes.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related construction field is preferred.
• Extensive experience in MEP design, drafting, or construction, with a deep understanding of all three disciplines.
• High proficiency in BIM and CAD software (especially Autodesk Revit and Navisworks Manage) is essential.
• Strong spatial reasoning and visualization skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively manage multiple stakeholders and resolve conflicts.
• Keen attention to detail and a methodical, problem-solving approach.
• Knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
