Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced

Medical Lab Microbiologist

to join our team in a CAP-accredited laboratory. The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree (M.Sc) in Microbiology or an equivalent qualification and possess a minimum of one year of hands-on experience in a CAP-accredited environment. This role involves comprehensive responsibilities in

Quality Assurance (QA)

and

Quality Control (QC)

, ensuring regulatory compliance, participating in audits and proficiency testing (PT) cycles, and mentoring junior staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform microbiological testing in compliance with CAP, CLIA, and internal SOPs. Review and monitor

QA/QC documentation

to ensure ongoing compliance with CAP standards. Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and investigation of quality incidents and non-conformities. Actively participate in

internal and external audits

including CAP inspections. Oversee and participate in

Proficiency Testing (PT) cycles

, including documentation and follow-up on corrective actions. Provide

training and mentorship

to junior laboratory staff and new hires. Support the development and implementation of laboratory SOPs and quality improvement initiatives. Maintain strict adherence to biosafety and infection control guidelines. Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely communication and resolution of quality-related issues. Stay updated with current best practices and regulatory updates in microbiology and laboratory quality systems.

Qualifications:

Education:

M.Sc in Microbiology or equivalent qualification in the related field.

Experience:

Minimum

1 year experience in a CAP-accredited laboratory

is required. Hands-on experience in

QA/QC monitoring

, documentation, and compliance review. Strong understanding of CAP accreditation standards and laboratory best practices. Experience in

audit preparation

and handling CAP inspections. Proficient in microbial culture, identification, susceptibility testing, and contamination control measures. Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to train and guide junior staff.

Preferred Skills:

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with LIS (Laboratory Information Systems) and quality management software. Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
