Job Description

Job purpose
  • Coordinating and supervising the provision of a professional medical malpractice defence service for clients across the UAE and the wider GCC through Clyde & Co office in Dubai.
  • Supporting the growth of the medical malpractice team by growing our market share domestically in the UAE and the wider GCC.
Job requirements

The main responsibilities of the role are:
  • Handling medical malpractice cases for Clyde & Co clients (both litigated and pre-litigation).
  • Liaising with clients by telephone, letter, email or fax, to discuss claims and follow up as appropriate;
  • Reviewing documentation to consider liability, quantum, settlement opportunities and reserves;
  • Using knowledge and initiative to reach amicable solutions to settling claims on behalf of clients, taking into account circumstances of the case;
  • Conducting research on medical liability laws and to provide written advice to clients;
  • Managing client relationship for key clients;
  • Ongoing/regular communication/reports to clients;
  • Providing any other assistance in the Middle East required by the Medical Malpractice team;
  • Assisting with all financial and practice management requirements;
  • Maintaining statistics on medical malpractice data; and
  • Contributing ideas around Business Development Strategy to Partner.
Candidate requirements

We are interested in candidates with:
  • a degree level education;
  • preference for experience gained within the insurance industry; law firm experience desirable;
  • extensive experience with claims
  • excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
  • excellent time-management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities;
  • a proactive approach and an ability to deal with clients and debtors appropriately;
  • strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with people at all levels;
  • a strong commercial acumen; and
  • Highly proficient in English and (ideally) Arabic.
