JOB PURPOSE

As Media Production Specialist you are expected, to design, execute, and manage high-quality media content (video, audio, and graphics) for the College of Communication and the University, while concurrently providing expert technical support, training, and operational oversight for all radio, TV, and multimedia production facilities, ensuring an optimal learning and creative environment for students and faculty.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

1. Operate and manage a variety of professional technical equipment, including video cameras, DSLR cameras, audio equipment, studio lighting, studio mikes, and sound equipment for both studio and on-location shoots.
2. Coordinate all aspects of filming and recording, including pre-planning shots, determining creative framing and capturing action, suggesting optimal sites, angles, and time slots, and liaising with technical staff on lighting and setup requirements.
3. Design, edit, and integrate diverse digital content, including video projects, short documentary films, promotional videos, motion graphics, 2D/3D animation, photography, illustrations, and other multimedia visualization products.
4. Complete post-production tasks using industry-standard audio, video, and photography editing software, combining recorded video files, audio commentary, background music, and ensuring the final product meets all technical and creative specifications.
5. Review final media drafts to ensure compliance with photographer credit, copyright, captioning, branding policies, and any legal or contractual usage policies.
Student/Faculty Support and Training
6. Provide expert technical support and advice to students (undergraduate and senior/graduation projects) and faculty on the structure, design, and execution of media production concepts, systems, and solutions.

7. Manage, maintain, and prepare all media production facilities, including Radio/TV studios and multimedia labs, ensuring computers, software, and equipment are fully functional and ready for immediate use.
8. Install, configure, upgrade, and troubleshoot all studio and lab-related hardware and software, ensuring compliance with license agreements and copyright legislation.
9. Perform regular preventative maintenance and necessary troubleshooting on sensitive equipment (e.g., camera bodies, lenses, lighting, filters) and software, promptly reporting any issues or incidents to concerned personnel.

10. Recommend improvements for existing facilities and participate in the preparation and design of new studio facilities by recommending ideas on layout, equipment, and requirements to maintain high standards of accuracy and reliability.
11. May assume the role of a team leader/supervisor when required, which entails planning and assignment of tasks, monitoring performance, reviewing deliverables, providing guidance and on-the-job training, and reporting on status and results to the line manager.
12. Stay current with emerging technologies in multimedia, design programs, filming methods, and video/photography equipment advancements in the market.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.

Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.

Expert proficiency in operating a variety of professional video, DSLR, and mirrorless cameras, lenses, and specialized accessories.

Advanced knowledge of operating audio equipment, including studio microphones, field recorders, mixers, and ensuring high-quality sound capture.

Expert proficiency in industry-standard non-linear editing (NLE) software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and motion graphics/design tools (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator).

Expertise in studio and location lighting techniques, including setting up and adjusting professional studio lighting, grips, and rigging equipment.

Comprehensive knowledge of operating and managing professional Radio and TV studio facilities, control rooms, and associated infrastructure.

Proven ability to install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain multimedia hardware (PCs, Macs, peripherals) and software in a lab/studio environment.

Proficiency in maintaining a detailed inventory of technical equipment, consumables, and studio assets.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Media Production, Digital Arts, Film, Communication, or a relevant Media related discipline.

Professional certification in industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Certified Professional in Video Editing or Visual Design) is highly desirable. 6-8 years of UAE experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education institutions.

A master's degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.

Priority is to UAE Nationals.
