Job Description
A mechanical technician installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical equipment, often working under the direction of engineers to implement their designs. They are skilled in reading blueprints, troubleshooting problems, performing tests, and making adjustments to ensure machinery operates correctly and meets specifications. This hands-on role is crucial for bringing engineering designs to life and keeping complex systems running efficiently. Key responsibilities
Installation:
Assembling and installing new or modified mechanical assemblies, machine tools, and hydraulic systems.Maintenance:
Performing preventive maintenance, such as inspection and servicing, to prevent equipment failure.Repair:
Diagnosing and fixing defective parts, repairing equipment, and replacing worn components.Testing and troubleshooting:
Conducting field and laboratory tests, analyzing data, and troubleshooting issues to ensure proper function.Assembly:
Creating parts using shop tools and assembling them according to design specifications.Quality control:
Performing quality checks, identifying defects, and rework or repairing products as needed.Safety:
