Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Training: Experience in ship repairing and NB yard, Sea going experience or technical school trained.
Experience: Extensive familiarity with mechanical works with at least 5 years\' of experience as lead foreman or supervisor in marine or new building yard. 3-5years experience working under major OEM.
JOB OBJECTIVES (SUMMARY OF OVERALL JOB PURPOSE)
Plan, organize and supervise mechanical work activities including overhauling and calibration of equipment onboard and in workshop to meet the set milestones in order to ensure timely delivery of projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Policies, Processes & Procedures:
Implement approved departmental policies, processes, procedures and provide instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.
Ensure employees are aware and follow the information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.
Day- to-day operations:
Develop, interpret and follow method statements and procedures in addition to understanding specifications, drawings and all other discipline related project and engineering documentation.
Co-ordinate work progress with SRM, superintendent, other trades with own department.
Liaise with invoicers / estimators to ensure that department and commercial targets are synchronized and met.
Develop detailed completion program with manpower loading.
Identifying and act upon opportunities for improvement to work & safety related matters.
Participate in accident investigation, root cause analysis and provide assistance in preparing reports.
Implement the day-to-day operations assigned for Mechanical Department / Section to ensure compliance with the established standard and procedures.
Participate in improvement efforts to enhance safety, productivity and quality of the department.
Direction of Subordinates:
Organise and supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of sections activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner.
Provide personnel appraisal & training requirements for subordinates.
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account \'international best practice\', improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
Reporting:
Prepare departmental reports on time and accurately to meet company and department requirements, policies and standards.

KEY COMPETENCIES
Language skills:
Fluent in English Language.
Knowledge of other languages will be an added advantage.
Very good knowledge in technical terms and report writing skills.
Technical competencies:
Thorough knowledge in overhaul and calibration procedure of mechanical equipment and/or machineries.
Knowledge and Experience in ship repair and new building yard.
Possess knowledge of MS office and Project Management skills.
Ability to coach and guide subordinates to improve productivity and quality.
