Roles and Responsibilities of a Senior Mechanical Foreman (European Expat)1. Supervision and Team Leadership

Supervise and coordinate the activities of mechanical technicians, fitters, and subcontractors. Lead a multicultural workforce, ensuring communication and collaboration. Delegate tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure timelines are met. Mentor and provide on-the-job training to local employees.

2. Mechanical Works Oversight

Ensure proper installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems (e.g., piping, pumps, valves, HVAC, rotating/static equipment). Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications. Oversee alignment, fitting, welding, and testing processes.

3. Quality Control and Standards

Ensure mechanical works are executed according to international codes and project specifications (e.g., ASME, ISO, API). Conduct inspections, identify defects, and enforce corrective actions. Work closely with QA/QC teams to maintain documentation and inspection records.

4. Safety and Compliance

Enforce site safety protocols and conduct tool-box talks and safety briefings. Promote a strong safety culture among the crew. Ensure compliance with HSE policies, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.

5. Coordination and Reporting

Liaise with engineers, planners, and project managers to coordinate work activities. Report daily progress, man-hours, equipment usage, and material needs. Communicate any delays, issues, or variations to higher management.

6. Material and Resource Management

Monitor availability and proper usage of tools, machinery, and materials. Request material requirements in advance to avoid delays. Ensure preventive maintenance of tools and mechanical equipment.

7. Documentation and Records

Maintain accurate logs of work done, workforce allocation, and material usage. Support preparation of mechanical completion dossiers and turnover packages.
