To ensure the effective maintenance, inspection, and operation of all fire protection and firefighting systems in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations. The mechanical engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting, servicing, and maintaining fire safety systems to ensure the safety and protection of personnel, assets, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of fire protection systems, including:
Fire sprinkler systems
Fire pumps
Fire extinguishers
Fire alarm systems (in coordination with electrical team)
Fire hydrants
Suppression systems (foam, gas-based, etc.)
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical components of fire systems.
Supervise and coordinate with technicians for on-ground maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with NFPA, Civil Defense, and other relevant local/international codes and standards.
Maintain proper documentation of inspections, test reports, maintenance logs, and corrective actions.
Troubleshoot malfunctions in fire protection systems and coordinate timely repairs.
Liaise with contractors and suppliers for procurement of fire system components and services.
Support internal and external audits and inspections.
Train technicians and staff on basic fire safety and emergency procedures.
Assist in fire risk assessments and provide engineering support for fire system upgrades and modifications.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in fire protection system maintenance.
Strong knowledge of fire safety standards (e.g., NFPA, local civil defense codes)
Excellent problem-solving and technical skills.
Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
Good communication and reporting skills.
Certification in fire protection systems (preferred).
Working Conditions:
May be required to work in shifts, on weekends, or during emergencies.
Physical activity such as climbing ladders, lifting, and standing for extended periods may be required.
Exposure to heat, confined spaces, and heights in certain facility areas.
