Mechanical Design Team Leader

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Team Leader part of the Radar Solutions product unit, you will take technical leadership in the design and development of mechanical parts, systems, and processes for sophisticated radar and telecommunications products.

To prioritise work within the team, steering the technical endeavors of mechanical design and analyst engineers. Your scope of work will span from concept generation and planning to industrialization and serial production.

Responsibilities

• Formulate, prioritise, and document mechanical design work packages from project deliverables and system requirements.
• Establish and document mechanical requirements, specifications, and verification test plans of internally developed products.
• Coordinate capacity and capabilities of the team to establish technically relevant design results.
• Lead the team through the phase-gate process of product development.
• Ensure the existence of agreed internal design standard and guidelines for CAD/CAE tools, configuration management, and Saab\xe2\x80\x99s product development processes.
• Actively contribute to the development and implementation of the technical roadmap for the team.

Required Formal Qualifications, Experience and Background

• Academic degree in mechanical, aeronautical, or equivalent engineering discipline, emphasising technical design and product development.
• Extensive experience developing mechanical system and products.
• Proven history of leading and mentoring multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence technical personnel.
• Clear and effective communication skills in English.

Required Technical Competencies

• Profound knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, design standards, and best practices.
• Proficiency in the use of CAD/CAE tools \xe2\x80\x93 Preferably Solidworks, Siemens NX, or CATIA.
• Understanding of project management tools and methodologies, particularly in risk management and resource planning.
• Application of FMEA methodologies in product development.
• Strong grasp of dimensioning and tolerancing, focus on ISO General Product Specifications GPS.
• Solid foundation in materials, manufacturing processes, and prototyping.
• In-depth understanding of engineering development cycles.
• Operational proficiency of configuration control, change management, and CAD data structure.

This position requires that you to meet the security clearance requirements.
