Job Description
Job Summary
The Mechanical Design Engineer - BMU is responsible for the
design, analysis, and development of Building Maintenance Units (BMUs)
and related facade access systems. The role involves preparing detailed mechanical designs, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation in compliance withinternational standards and project specifications
, while coordinating with internal teams, consultants, and clients.Key Responsibilities Design & Engineering
Design
BMU systems
, monorails, davits, and facade access equipment. Preparemechanical calculations
, load analysis, and design reports. Developfabrication drawings, and shop drawings
. Ensure designs comply withEN, BS, ISO, OSHA, and local authority standards
. Select appropriatematerials, motors, wire ropes, safety devices, and components
.Coordination & Support
Coordinate with
structural, electrical, and facade consultants
. Provide technical support duringmanufacturing, installation, and commissioning
stages. Review and respond totechnical queries, RFIs, and design comments
. Attend design meetings withclients, consultants, and project teams
.Quality & Compliance
Ensure BMU designs meet
safety, operational, and maintenance requirements
. Assist in preparingmethod statements, risk assessments, and technical submittals
. Supportthird-party inspections and authority approvals
.Site & Field Support
Conduct
site visits
for design verification and technical assessments. Support troubleshooting of BMU systems during testing and operation. Provide as-built drawings and technical handover documentation.Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in
Mechanical Engineering
. Minimum3-5 years of experience
in BMU or facade access system design. Experience inUAE or GCC projects
preferred.Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of
BMU systems and facade access equipment
. Proficient inAutoCAD, SolidWorks / Inventor
, and MS Office. Ability to performengineering calculations and design analysis
. Familiar withinternational safety and design standards
. Good communication and coordination skills. Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.Preferred Experience
Experience working with
high-rise buildings and complex facades
. Knowledge ofmanufacturing processes and installation methods
. Exposure totesting, commissioning, and certification procedures
.Job Type: Full-time
