Material Engineer
Job Summary:
To test, approve, and ensure the quality of all materials used on the project conform to the required specifications and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review material submittals and ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Conduct source inspections at supplier factories and workshops.
- Perform or witness field and lab tests on materials (e.g., concrete, soil, asphalt, steel, aggregates, plants).
- Evaluate test reports and certify materials for use on site.
- Investigate and resolve any material-related issues or failures.
- Maintain records of all material approvals, test reports, and certificates.
- Liaise with the procurement team and QA/QC department on material standards.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Materials Science.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in material engineering, preferably within the UAE construction industry.
- Experience with soil, concrete, and asphalt testing protocols.
- Knowledge of international material standards (ASTM, AASHTO, BS).
