The Marine Piping Technician is responsible for the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems on vessels and within shipyard environments. This role involves working with a variety of pipe materials and systems critical to ship operations, including fuel, ballast, seawater cooling, bilge, fire-fighting, and freshwater systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, modify, and repair marine piping systems according to technical drawings, isometric diagrams, and P&IDs.
Measure, cut, thread, bend, and weld or fit pipes made of carbon steel, stainless steel, CuNi, and other marine-grade materials.
Carry out pipe support installation and ensure proper pipe alignment and routing.
Conduct hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure tests on piping systems.
Assist in pre-fabrication and fitting of pipe spools in the workshop or onboard vessels.
Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of existing piping systems, identifying leaks, corrosion, or blockages.
Use pipefitting tools, welding equipment, threading machines, and alignment instruments.
Work safely in shipyard and vessel environments, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
Comply with safety, health, and environmental regulations, using appropriate PPE and following job safety protocols.
Collaborate with welders, structural technicians, and engineers to complete installations according to specifications.
