Job Summary:

As a Marine Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our fleet of research vessels. Your expertise in marine mechanics and passion for quality assurance will contribute to the success of our mission.

Responsibilities:

Conduct regular maintenance and repair of all marine vessels and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on vessels and equipment Perform preventative maintenance procedures to minimize downtime and increase longevity of vessels and equipment Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work Coordinate with other departments and team members to ensure timely completion of maintenance and repair tasks Conduct sea trials and test equipment to ensure optimal performance Train and mentor junior members of the marine mechanics team

Requirements:

Diploma or degree in Marine Mechanics or a related field Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Marine Mechanic Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems Experience with diesel engines, generators, and propulsion systems Knowledge of marine safety and environmental regulations Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and teamwork skills Willingness to work extended hours and travel as needed
