The low carbon products global market is at a nascent stage but has a significant long-term growth potential that requires a systematic but agile technical / business development approach to enable ADNOC to meet its global leadership strategy. The lack of commoditization in short and medium-term creates the need to proactively engage with market players, government stakeholders and regulatory bodies along the value chain, offer comprehensive solutions and develop B2B relationships unlike in other commodities.

The purpose of the Manager of International Origination Support is to:

Develop and maintain long term relationships with potential clients, off-takers (focus on US & Europe) of ADNOC future portfolio of low carbon solutions products.

Evaluate & develop opportunities in the low carbon solutions market (focus on US & Europe) aimed at future partnership & collaboration in the target areas in line with strategy of the Low Carbon Solutions & International Growth Directorate. Steer constructively with internal & external parties and stakeholders to achieve higher value for ADNCO and potential partners in low carbon solutions Projects.

Proactively engage with domestic & international partners (focus on US & Europe) to develop partnerships along the low carbon solutions value chain, to jointly develop expertise in specific applications and drive development of new energies markets

Develop & improve formal and informal networks within the relevant industry players (focus on US & Europe) with the objective of understanding & identifying specific opportunities to ADNOC, and proactively using the knowledge to bring value to ADNOC

Originate joint project development engagements with partners (MOU\'s, JSA\'s, SFA\'s, PFA\'s etc.) and negotiate project contract terms to protect ADNOC\'s interests

Initiate pricing and offtake discussions and lead negotiation with potential clients to relay the discussion to the business development and finance teams

Steer negotiations of joint study and other similar agreements

Steer execution of technical and commercial elements of pilots and demonstration projects

Oversee and govern the conversion of potential opportunities to joint study agreements covering both technical and commercial fronts

Oversee the resources within the International Origination Support team to deliver the mandate for the group

Responsible to establish contacts and obtain input/support from interface project teams, other group companies, government authorities, agencies (as applicable)

Plan and prioritise the opportunities and provide required resources and tools. Approach management, if additional resources are required to meet the mandate

Provide support for individual team member\'s training for skill and career development

Identifying budgets for executing Joint Study with potential partners under International Origination Support team and obtaining management approval

Responsible to manage resources and tools to ensure smooth execution of Joint Study Agreement in time and within budget

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Oversee and govern joint study initiatives with potential partners related to low carbon solutions (including LH2, LOHC, SAF, Ammonia, Methanol, e-fuels, etc.) with focus on US and Europe markets

Steer joint study agreement backed up by business case with relevant partners keeping the interest of ADNOC. Endorse the input to management for approval of the proposed joint study agreement

Review and endorse the scope of work for the Joint Study Agreement (JSA) to ensure that the scope meets the objective and covers the relevant value chain. Endorse the proposed splitting of JSA scope in to several distinct workpacks which would support easier execution and governance.

Review and endorse Joint Study Agreement defining the term sheets, special terms & conditions, confidentiality, fee sharing, roles and responsibilities, study closeout etc., with inputs from ADNOC legal team, procurement, finance and others relevant divisions.

Review, endorse and obtain approval from management for required budget for executing joint study agreement

Steer and oversee handover of the signed Joint Study Agreement to the relevant execution team within New Energies Team i.e., Studies and Project Team. Responsible for providing clarification (if any) related to the Joint Study Agreement to the project team during the execution stage.

Establish focal points in relevant internal departments (such as ADNOC Technology) and Group Operating Companies to enhance the value proposition of the opportunities in low carbon solutions projects.

Establish and maintain relationship with the potential partners to spot opportunities and covert the relevant ones to joint study proposals for management approval

Present the potential risk associated with the opportunities under discussion and recommend appropriate corrective actions. Oversee implementation of the corrective actions to reduce the risk to acceptable limits.

Drive the alignment with internal stakeholders in developing leading edge low carbon solutions business innovations, providing strategic insight and prioritisation, driving low carbon solutions technologies road maps to reach operational and commercial proof of concept.

Develop deep understanding of overall New Energy Market through continuous research and contacts in the business network. Actively explore & analyse opportunities making speedy & strategic decisions for potential partnership with Tier 1 players to win profitable investment opportunity for ADNOC in the International Market (focus on Europe and US). Show initiative to identify innovative solutions & implement them through Joint Study Agreement.

Acts decisively & based on logical facts to move the opportunity to next stage as per ADNOC\'s Value Assurance Process & deliver on promise with potential Partners. Proactively respond & pass information in a structured way to all stakeholders.

Establish a well working network on different levels & functions based on mutual trust & delivery on promise - internally & with international players.

Drive all internal & Partner stakeholders to deliver on their respective promises by structured, but passionate & encouraging project Management

Technical Competencies:

Expertise to manoeuvre through the roadblocks and secure strategic partnership studies with Tier 1 Companies to meet the future growth aspiration of Low Carbon Solutions & International growth Directorate

Expertise to endorse and present technical and business values for ADNOC from potential JV partnership

Expertise to present the partnership strategy though crisp and clear presentation to support management decision making

Expertise to understand macroeconomic factors of low carbon solutions on international arena and propose overseas partnership (focus on Europe and US)

Management

Plan and supervise the activities of the personnel and resources of the Department to achieve the ADNOC\'s objectives in an efficient and cost-conscious manner while ensuring implementation of approved operational plans for the Department in line with Function\'s objectives.

Develop the knowledge, competencies and innovative spirit in the Department and support the establishment of Personal Development Plans (PDP\'s), Succession Planning and Talent pipeline within the Department in coordination with the Human Capability Group to continuously develop employees with emphasis on UAE Nationals to meet Emiratization targets.

Budgets and Operational Plans

Endorse and seek approval of the Department budgets and regularly monitor expenditure against approved the Department budget levels.

Investigate, highlight and reconcile any significant variances to ensure effective performance and cost control.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

Oversee and govern implementation of approved Department policies, processes, systems, standards, procedures and internal controls in order to support execution of the Department work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance Management

Implement the Company Performance Management System for individuals within the Department in accordance with Company approved guidelines and continuously monitor the achievement of the Department KPIs related to the approved Annual Performance Management Contract and the Balanced Score Card.

Organisation Structure and Development

Review, develop and recommend the appropriate organisation structure for the Department that will best utilise human capital while proactively incorporating sustainability into the on-going work practices to meet the business objectives.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Encourage innovation, enhance employee motivation and support initiatives for implementation of Change Management to continuously improve operations and services.

Propose improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with approved standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the Department.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability

Support the institution of an HSE culture and ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, systems & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines across the Department in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Ensure adequate HSE training and induction for all Department employees to meet HSE standards.

Management Information Systems (MIS) and Reports

Prepare all Department MIS and progress reports to provide accurate and timely reports and necessary information to Company Management to effectively manage the business.

Risk Management

Participate and proactively contribute to the designing, development and establishment of Company\'s integrated Risk Management Framework while identifying and assessing relevant domain risks and recommend planning, management and control measures to mitigate identified risks within the Function.

Oversee compliance of Risk Management Guidelines that are relevant to the Function and ensure corporate business ethics and Company\'s Code of Conduct are communicated within the Department

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal

Frequent work-related contact with immediate line manager, peer Managers and all reporting staff and team members on matters related to the Unit\'s operations, strategy, policies, administration, manpower, HSE and integrity and specific tasks.

Frequent contact with all Unit staff within the Directorate as required.

Regular contact with staff from Upstream Directorate and other Directorates for technical discussion.

External

Regular Contacts with top management, customers, suppliers and joint venture partners in discussions, negotiations.

Energy industry participants and stakeholders at various levels.

Regular contacts with ADNOC and Abu Dhabi subsidiaries/ventures and partners etc. and with technical collaborators, project and business consultants and outsourcing service providers.

Regular contact with consultants/suppliers on matters related to acquisition of services.

Occasional contact with Government organisations and entities such as Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Ministry of Energy, Department of Economic Development, Abu Dhabi Investment Authorities and Gulf Cooperation Council, etc.
