Job Description

Responsible for decision-making on project work within hospital premises. Accountable for upgrading and modernizing utility equipment in various areas. Liaison with government organizations and other establishments related to the maintenance department. Responsible for planning, costing, and executing various hospital projects. Involved in policy decision-making in coordination with management. Responsible for the welfare of department staff. Assist in selecting contractors for specific jobs with the system-in-charge. Long-term planning for renovations and modifications. Responsible for preparing and managing the maintenance budget. Contribute to quality initiatives. Train staff on effective use and upgrading of equipment. Conduct daily meetings with engineers/supervisors to address and resolve issues. Coordinate with other departments for various projects. Analyze recurring issues and develop solutions. Conduct staff appraisals with support from Assistant Engineer and System In-Charges. Analyze complaints and take corrective actions. Make personnel decisions regarding staff. Ensure disciplined departmental operations. Perform any tasks assigned by superiors. Set departmental targets. Address work-related issues faced by technicians/supervisors. Manage daily operations of the section. Schedule routine and preventive maintenance. Organize manpower and materials for daily tasks. Assign tasks to technicians. Oversee contract jobs in the relevant fields. Ensure staff welfare. Actively participate in the FMS committee. Identify and mitigate risk factors. Comply with all OSH and infection control policies and procedures. Follow documented OSH procedures and instructions. Be familiar with emergency and evacuation protocols. Report OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and assist in incident documentation. Follow waste management procedures. Attend OSH/infection control training, drills, and awareness programs. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems. Ensure safe and healthy work environments under their control. Implement relevant HAAD, NMCRH OSHMS, and infection control standards. Allocate budget and resources for FMS/OSH/PCI management. Appoint a Safety Facilitator for coordinating departmental OSH activities. Discuss OSH issues in departmental/management meetings. Provide OSH-related training, information, and supervision. Monitor the effectiveness of risk management programs. Maintain buildings and facilities safely. Prepare building management plans and budgets. Participate in emergency management programs. Offer expertise in building and facility OSH matters. Support development and monitoring of objectives related to HAAD OSHMS compliance.

ELECTRICAL:

Check the logbook for daily tasks. Allocate manpower and arrange necessary materials. Indent materials when needed. Inspect floor panels and electrical rooms. Cross-check generator logbooks. Allocate and monitor preventive maintenance. Maintain history cards. Ensure completion of assigned tasks. Coordinate with ADDC for power supply and inspections. Rectify issues noted by ADDC. Conduct routine inspections and handle breakdowns. Maintain air handling units, fan coil units, window/split/package A/Cs, and central A/C systems. Plan and execute shutdowns. Prepare cost estimates for major renovations. Troubleshoot and solve A/C-related problems.

UTILITY MAINTENANCE:

Check logbooks and carry out listed work. Organize routine preventive maintenance. Monitor kitchen, laundry, and CSSD equipment functionality.

PLUMBING:

Inspect water quality and availability. Arrange water supply and tankers. Inspect and maintain drainage ducts. Coordinate waterline alterations and drainage maintenance. Work with municipal authorities and pollution control boards. Maintain fire hydrants and pumps. Maintain softener plants. Schedule tank cleaning. Plan, organize, and estimate costs for new projects.

BUILDING/FLOOR:

Coordinate with housekeeping and guest relations for issue resolution. Manage under-repair rooms. Organize minor renovations and painting schedules. Handle civil and carpentry tasks. Perform routine rounds and address identified problems. Prepare and implement work order sanctions. Respond to internal department requests. Arrange manpower during equipment breakdowns. Inform HOD of major issues and get approval. Engage with contractors for specific tasks. Participate in shift activities and resolve patient/public area issues. Manage job orders from departments. Oversee operation of utilities like A/C plant, generators, boilers, and pump rooms. Report major issues to systems in-charge. Maintain activity logs and ensure follow-up. Organize manpower for daily issues. Handle tasks assigned by superiors.

B.E / Graduate Engineer

5 to 10 years' experience in the relevant field.


With management skills, interpersonal skills, time management, knowledge of equipment and maintenance,


analytical skills


Good English spoken and written, Arabic language advantageous, desirable, but not essential.
