Role Purpose:

A fundamental first step in driving a data-driven approach to support decision-making, is establishing the optimal data infrastructure to run analyses on. Based in Dubai, and reporting into the Lead, Data & Analytics within the Shopping Malls business, the role will be responsible for managing delivery for data engineering initiatives and also manage day to day day operations related to supporting various initiatives across the business, functions as well as the Analytics teams.
The role will be responsible for all data extraction, loading, cleansing, managing and operating the data assets as well as manage all integrations and data delivery pipelines.

Role Details \xe2\x80\x93 Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Data Integration strategy and planning
    • Perform analysis and gain insight into a broad range of very large data sets across all application systems in the group
    • Ensure that the data and analytics architecture, quality and availability is maintained up to the highest standards and latest best practices
    • Consolidate external and internal data and assimilate it into the required format
    • Process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analytics using various various tools including but not limited to infomratica
    • Develop data models, data integrations, data pipelines from/to source application systems
  • Data flows operations and maintenance
    • Maintain the overall Data lake and data platforms and data models, in addition to integration interfaces needed to extract, transform and load (ETL) data from the appropriate sources
    • Support internal colleagues and consultants with the ETL process to ensure data is delivered properly
    • Take the lead on maintenance and support required on the data
    • Provide comprehensive support to all relevant stakeholders to ensure proper compliance with data governance policies and standards
  • Prototype to production
    • Manage internal and vendor resoruces and be responsible for all agreed delivry schedules
    • Provide guidance on best practices for scalable data processing
    • Communicate data requirements and dependencies with stakeholders, while also dimensioning resource and hardware requirements of production systems
    • Mitigate possible data risks and planning, supporting and performing system / application upgrades to address them
  • Collaborations and Interactions with Other Teams
    • Develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with different stakeholders and IT professionals to understand their needs and current infrastructure
    • Work closely with consultants to oversee delivery of any externally provided infrastructure
    • Liaise with various internal teams on data deliveries, setting up a QA system, and addressing any anomalies or gaps in the data.

Summary of required experience and attributes
  • DATA LEADERSHIP
    • Expert in building, leading and maintaining large-scale data infrastructure platforms
    • Excellent understanding of data management infrastructure solutions and their trade-offs, including data warehouse, ETL and relational database architecture, cloud and distributed database architectures (e.g., HDFS, HIVE, MapReduce, Spark, PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS S3, HBASE, VERTICA, Scyla, Informatica BDM/BDS,)
    • Strong experience in management of distributed systems and technologies (e.g., Apache Mesos, Apache YARN, Marathon, Hadoop/HDFS)
    • Advanced skill in of one, or more, of the following data integration/ETL/ELT tools: Informatica, Talend, SSIS, DataFlow, Spark, APIgee, Mulesoft. Informatica skills preferred.
    • Strong experience in data modeling with excellent knowledge of DWH Modeling approaches (e.g, Kimbal and Inmon)
    • Prior experience of working with cloud DWH solutions (e.g, Redshift, Azure Synapse, Snowflate etc.)
    • Expert level skill in SQL
    • Strong experience of creating enterprise semantic models and self service BI using Microsoft Power BI Platform (Azure Analysis Services, Power BI datamarts)
    • Experience in creating valuable documents (ERDs, Data Dictionary, Data Flow diagrams, data architecture/solution design etc)
    • Knowledge of Data Governance & Quality procedures, methonds and tools (e.g, Informatica Axon, EDC, IDQ)
    • Advanced skills in data design for analytics including relational and NoSQL.
    • Knowledge of at least one scripted language (e.g. Python, Perl, Shell), including its scientific / statistical packages.

Minimum experience
  • 8+ years of experience with data analysis and preparation, including considerable experience with very large data sets and unstructured data.
Minimum Qualifications/education
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in computer science from a top university
  • Certifications in statistics, data mining and machine learning a plus
