Job Summary:
The Substation Project Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific power transmission and distribution (T&D) and substation projects, ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals. This includes the management of scope, schedule, budget, quality, resources, and risk from conception to final handover.
Key Responsibilities:

• Project Planning & Strategy: Develop comprehensive project execution plans, including scope definition, work breakdown structure, resource planning, risk management, and commissioning strategy.
• Budget & Cost Management: Prepare, manage, and control the project budget. Forecast costs, approve expenditures, and ensure the project is delivered within the approved financial framework.
• Schedule Management: Develop and maintain the master project schedule using tools like Primavera P6 or MS Project. Monitor progress against baselines and implement recovery plans for any delays.
• Team Leadership & Resource Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary project team (engineers, supervisors, contractors). Coordinate with department heads for resource allocation.
• Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for the client, consultants, authorities (such as DEWA), and internal senior management. Manage expectations and communicate project status effectively.
• Contract Management: Administer the main contract, including managing variations, claims, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
• Procurement & Supply Chain: Oversee the procurement of major equipment (transformers, switchgear, etc.) and materials, coordinating with the commercial team and suppliers.
• Health, Safety & Environment (HSE): Champion a "Zero Harm" culture. Ensure all HSE plans and legal requirements are implemented and adhered to on site.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure all works are executed in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, and relevant international standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.).
• Reporting: Provide regular, detailed project reports on progress, financial status, risks, and issues to senior management and the client.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree or PMP certification is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience in project management, with at least 8-10 years specifically in high-voltage substation (Primary & Secondary Systems) and power transmission projects.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering substation projects in the UAE/Middle East, with a strong understanding of DEWA regulations and standards.
• Extensive experience in contract management (FIDIC), budgeting, and scheduling.
