Job Brief

The Manager of Cold Stores will manage the overall operations of the business unit, ensuring optimal store occupancy in line with industry standards. The person will enforce organizational policies, procedures, hygiene, and safety standards to strengthen the Cold Store\xe2\x80\x99s competitive advantage in the local and global market. The job holder is responsible for leading and applying the Cold Store business strategy, evaluating the feasibility of new business opportunities, and achieving overall goals and objectives.

Functional Descriptions and Detailed Job Responsibilities

Excellent Customer Experience:
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships through ethical sales methods.
  • Optimize quality of service, business growth, and customer satisfaction.
Market Intelligence and Business Development:
  • Anticipate, research, and report on future changes.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant laws, procedures, tariffs, and duties.
  • Collaborate with subordinates on strategic planning.
Training and Development:
  • Effectively train, evaluate, motivate, and monitor staff.
  • Develop annual employee welfare programs and rewards systems.
Business Operations Support:
  • Liaise with other departments for overall growth and support.
  • Maintain relationships with government agencies, clients, banks, and stakeholders.
Statutory and Regulatory Requirements:
  • Adhere to local and external Quality, Health, and Safety guidelines.
  • Ensure business unit policies comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Strategic Business Management:
  • Lead the development and implementation of effective strategies.
  • Align business unit strategy with corporate objectives.
Business Unit Profit and Loss Management:
  • Manage business development activities for profitability and revenue.
  • Modify financial plans based on changes in business plans.
Performance Management:
  • Establish Corporate Performance Management Frameworks.
  • Lead, manage, and support our BU initiatives.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Ensure continuous improvements in systems and processes.
  • Manage and enhance the effectiveness of the business development team.
People Management:
  • Supervise and guide direct reports in day-to-day tasks.
  • Allocate work, conduct performance reviews, and manage leave efficiently.
Health, Safety, and Environment:
  • Direct and maintain a safety program for warehouse employees.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to safety procedures.
Operations and Quality Management System:
  • Provide materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Oversee inventory management and coordinate with the Warehouse Manager.
Inventory:
  • Control inventory levels through physical counts and reconciliation.
Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Work in other areas of the maintenance department as needed.
  • Ensure staff are trained and certified in their assigned roles.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and evaluate warehouse workers and the maintenance team.

Technical Competencies & Qualifications

Educational Qualification:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • A master\'s degree in a relevant discipline would be advantageous.
Special or Technical Certifications (Optional):
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management or Logistics.
  • Training or certification in warehouse operations and inventory management.
  • Health and Safety certifications relevant to warehouse and cold storage environments.
Area of Experience and Duration:
  • At least 8 to 12+ years of progressive experience in warehouse management, cold storage operations, or supply chain management.
  • Significant experience in a leadership role, demonstrating successful management of a team.
  • Experience in implementing and overseeing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proven track record in strategic planning and execution within the logistics or cold storage industry.
