Job Description

The Business Development Manager\xe2\x80\x99 is responsible for the administration, strategic planning, and coordination of the sales activity of their region or assigned location. The Business Development Manager is responsible for the development of relationships with key individuals and decision-makers at assigned clients. They are also responsible for Generates Sales and Class leads.

What You Will Do:
  • Main objective is to sell ABS Wavesight products and services using the strength of local affiliates\xe2\x80\x99 business structure.
  • Define and maintain target lists of prospective clients for accounts to be targeted in the region. Client prospecting in the target region.
  • Develop a sales strategy for the region to achieve defined sales targets.
  • Provides sales forecast data as well as other market and customer information for use in sales planning.
  • Stays within expense budgets and observes Company sales policies.
  • Produce local proposals for clients/prospects in accordance with ABS Wavesight procedures and pricing guidelines.
  • Actively follow up on all proposals and conduct client presentations where required.
  • Provides support to operations as necessary to ensure customers are receiving appropriate service.
  • Communicates regularly with the Director of Business Development or Region Manager regarding opportunities, challenges, and any other business matters.
  • Participates in special projects and teams as necessary to support the overall development of the business.
  • Meets or exceeds delegated sales targets.
What You Will Need:

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited university or equivalent business/quality-related experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience in the maritime software industry is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
  • Skills to organize, plan and direct the work activities of professional employees, and to handle multiple ongoing projects.
  • Administrator, specifically in cost reporting, and revenue forecasting.
  • Knowledge of the unique natures of both the software and the maritime industries.
  • Strong client-based development skills. An entrepreneurial mentality to recognize and capitalize on new business opportunities.
  • Ability to negotiate agreements with clients concerning the scope of work and billing rates.
  • Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
Reporting Relationships:

Reports to a Manager, Director, or Executive level position.
