Job Title: Manager, Business DevelopmentReports To: Director, Business DevelopmentPosition Location: RemoteFLSA Status (Exempt/Non-Exempt): ExemptPosition Summary: The ZeptoMetrix Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and consummating commercial, custom, and OEM opportunities, [e.g., product development and services projects] with key and target customers. The role interfaces with technical resources within our company and selectively deploys such resources as adjuncts in a team-selling context meant to convince customers of the preferentially differential capabilities of ZeptoMetrix.Key Responsibilities: Take ownership of the ZeptoMetrix portfolio across US, become the point of contact for the ZeptoMetrix portfolio.Work closely with commercial and scientific teams to expand business into new accounts.Ability to understand and represent company capabilities: technical development, operational/manufacturing/logistical, project managementDirect interaction with prospective customers to present upon ZeptoMetrix capabilities; coordination and solicitation of support from appropriate ZeptoMetrix technical staff to assist, as needed, in these customer interactionsAbility to understand and interpret customer requirements in the fields of infectious disease diagnostics and molecular diagnostics, as well as to-be-named application areas as ZeptoMetrix evolves its portfolio Technical advice (advanced applications)Apply knowledge of ZeptoMetrix portfolio and application to customers, Creating and negotiating contracts with customersAbility to create proposals/quotes/RFP/RFQ responses that address identified opportunitiesMeeting with customers: by phone, by email, by MS Teams, at conferences, at their sites. Ongoing relationship management with key and selected target accounts. Work closely with Product Management teamProposing target customers, target applications, target geographies to pursue in conjunction with strategic plan objectives to achieve sustainable long-term growth and diversify ZM's product/service portfolio to address both current and emerging market needsAbility to develop business cases to justify resource investment against identified opportunity. Collaboration with Legal staff to create and/or respond to customer contracts, such as Master Service Agreements and Supply Agreements.Collaboration with Technical staff to understand available/pending capacity, as well as capabilities, to best represent ZM's ability (and timing) to partake in new projects.Collaboration with Technical and Business/Financial staff to assess cost and resource allocation for prospective projects. Collaboration with same to render price quotes to customers.Participate in New Product Development projects and new product launchesDemonstrate the ability to deliver results within deadlines.Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of ROI to the client.Grow customer base through independent customer contact and dual calling with other team members. Be able to identify market changes and communicate back to business leaders.Performs other duties as assignedEducation: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences; preferably in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Molecular Biology.Experience: 3+ years' experience preferred in Sales, Marketing, or Business/Market Development 2+ years' experience preferred in a Life Sciences laboratory or clinical diagnostics operation Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: Demonstrate a knowledge of the features and benefits of ZeptoMetrix products.Demonstrate a knowledge of sales techniques using effective questioning and objection handling.Confident user of Microsoft Office suiteExcellent command of the English language, both written and verbalExceptional eye for detail, time management & interpersonal skills Desirable attributes: strategic commercial mindset, natural project manager, confident communicator, detail oriented, curious, and creative, problem solver, quick learner, adaptableSome combination of technical/laboratory and business/commercial experience is highly-desired.Up to 50% domestic and/or international travel Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, efficiently works under pressure, within deadlines or other time essential constraintsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly and concisely communicate to all levels of the organizationStrong work ethic and an ability to excel within a rapidly changing and growing organizationThis position has not been approved for Relocation Assistance.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of the work being performed by people assigned to this job.
