Job Description

The purpose of the role of

Manager Aerodrome Certification

is to manage the Aerodrome Certifications team in the strategic delivery of the GCAA regulatory and AD Airports internal certification function. The role ensures that resources are in place and deployed effectively so that service delivery, operational processes, safety, and compliance meet--and wherever possible exceed--regulatory requirements.


The Manager works closely with the GCAA as the regulatory body and with cross-functional teams, including AD Airports senior management, to develop and implement strategies that ensure regulatory compliance, reduce operational risks, and improve service delivery.



Responsibilities



Develop and implement comprehensive certification strategies and plans for all AD Airports, aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Monitor and analyze non-conformance trends and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify improvement areas and implement corrective actions. Review and update the airport's Quality Management System (QMS) and Aerodrome Certification documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices. Ensure operational compliance with safety, security, and operational regulations through the review of processes, standards, and procedures. Conduct audits and inspections to assess process effectiveness, identify gaps, and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively. Maintain personal and team competency in GCAA regulatory requirements and AD Airports operational processes to ensure airport compliance. Prepare and present regular reports on quality metrics, audit results, non-conformance issues, and corrective actions to senior management, including insights and recommendations. Identify hazards and associated risks related to GCAA regulatory requirements and assess their operational, safety, and service delivery impacts, ensuring effective risk mitigation. Implement robust processes for identifying non-conformance and managing corrective actions to minimize safety incidents and regulatory interventions. Ensure all non-conformances are documented and resolved using root cause analysis and effective Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) plans. Provide ongoing support and coaching to cross-functional teams to promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Act as the primary point of contact for GCAA regulatory and AD Airports-related issues, liaising with stakeholders to implement CAPA plans. Represent AD Airports senior management in GCAA regulatory meetings, working groups, and industry forums, staying informed of best practices and regulatory changes. Implement the aerodrome projects process (currently AMC-59) to ensure airport infrastructure development complies with GCAA regulatory requirements. Verify aerodrome project compliance with GCAA regulations and AD Airports aerodrome standards. Manage cross-functional teams' expectations regarding GCAA regulatory engagement and timelines. Support and complement the Safety Management System (SMS) by proactively implementing SMS Manual Section 4.6.3.

Requirements and Skills



Core Competencies



Strong knowledge of aerodrome operations, ICAO and state regulatory frameworks, and Safety Management Systems. Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and implementing regulatory and safety management systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and presentation of certification data. Results-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement. Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and teamwork abilities.

Education and Qualifications



Minimum degree-level qualification in Aviation, Aviation Safety, or a related field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.

Experience



Minimum of 3+ years' experience in aerodrome operations, aerodrome projects, or Safety Management Systems in a supervisory or management role. Significant operational and organizational experience within an airport environment. * Experience conducting audits, inspections, and assessments within an airport setting.
